Principles Of Good Body Mechanics For Manual Transfers

Your Work: – Assess, Plan, Execute – “Plan your work and work your plan”.

• Check before lifting • Get help or a device • Check your route and the target spot

Your Body:

– Bend at the knees and hips. – Keep objects being lifted close to your body. – Don’t twist to the side from the waist. Turn with your feet.

Your Stance:

– Balanced Stance (feet shoulder-width apart, one foot slightly behind the other) Your Posture:

– Stand upright. – Tuck in your buttocks. – Tighten your stomach muscles (pull in your abdomen). – Keep your head up, shoulders back and chin in – Keep your weight centered over your feet.
