Waskowitz BIG Tree ContestEntries may be submitted any time over the course of the summer.

Contest deadline is September 1 • $5 entry fee

For many years in the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s, sixth-graders in the Highline School District came home from their week at Camp Waskowitz with a fir seedling to

Burien is fortunate to have a new group of active residents who are working toward creating an off-leash dog park.

B-Town DOG (Dog Owners Group) are busy raising funds and helping the City of Burien develop a portion of Lakeview Park for the new off-leash dog park. Plans include developing areas for both small and large dogs.

Monthly PARK-n-BARK Dog Walks are also scheduled on the 3rd Saturday of most months at 11:00 am.

TOPSoccerThe Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer) is a community-based soccer program for boys and girls and men and women, aged 4 years and older, who have a cognitive and/or physical disability. The program is based on skill level, not age, and participants include players, coaches, and buddy-volunteers who are paired with each player to assist with the game. TOPSoccer creates an environment where all participants make lasting memories and simply have fun with the game! Participant InformationInclusionAs with all programs Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services provided, Special Recreation programs are inclusive for anyone interested in participating in these classes.

Behavior PolicyIn order to provide a successful experience for all participants, please note the following: Participants must be able to function in a group environment with limited supervision.• If closer supervision is needed, a

caregiver or chaperone is welcome to accompany the participant at no cost. If there is an admission fee into a venue, caregiver/chaperone would need to pay the admission cost.

• Unacceptable behaviors include but aren’t limited to self abuse, physical or verbal abuse towards others, violent behaviors, profanity, and constant unwillingness to participate in activities.

• Non compliance may result in requirement of caregiver accompaniment or possible dismissal from activities.

Attendant Staffing (1:1, Aides, Chaperones, Care Providers)Burien Parks staff provides leadership for our programs and staff ratios will depend on individual programs. We cannot provide attendant care, such as assistance using restrooms, personal transfers, eating, or dispensing medications. A participant’s own attendant may accompany him/her if this type of assistance is needed.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Camp Craz and Summer Teen Scene

Campers may register for camp up until the Monday of that camp week if there is space available. The first two weeks of camp,

payment in full is due at the time of registration. Scholarship approval is required prior to registration. Space is limited to 60 campers per week for Camp Craz and 24 for STS.

FeeWeekly session fee is $146 / RD $139. One-time registration fee per participant of $30 / RD $25 due at time of registration

Scheduled PaymentsIf you are registering for 3 or more weeks and not able to pay for your child’s camp in full at the time of registration, you can schedule your camp payments by completing a Pre-Authorized Charge Form. Each week of camp requires a $20 non-refundable non-transferable deposit, per participant at the time of registration which will be applied towards final payment due for each week. Once camp begins, the balance of your weekly camp fee will automatically be processed on the Monday one week prior to your child’s camp week.

Credit Card Declines A NSF fee of $25 will be charged to your account if your card is declined for any reason. If remainder of that camp weekly fee and the NSF charge isn’t paid in full by 5PM on the following Tuesday one week prior to the camp week, the $20 deposit is forfeited and camp participant will be withdrawn from that week of camp.

RefundCamp deposits are non-refundable non-transferable; if full fees have been paid; a refund less the $20 deposit and the $5 processing fee will be issued, if notice is received by filling out a refund request form 10 or more days prior to the start of the camp week. If less than 9 days will be charged 50% of the total week fee, per participant.

Break the rules of conventional clay and explore paperclay’s unique possibilities! This class gives an introduction to a flexible approach to building, decorating and firing. Refunds & CreditsWhen appropriate, we will gladly refund or credit your class fee for these amounts:

• 100%: When class is canceled by the Burien Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department due to insufficient enrollment OR when you request to withdraw from the class a minimum of 3 business days prior to the first class and accept a credit.
