LETTER FROM THE DEPARTMENT HEAD

It gives me great pleasure to be in the midst of some of the brightest students in our department, and the wonderful people who are backing the progress of these students through their donations. Tonight our students get a chance to meet the people who are making a difference in their lives, and our donors get to witness in person, the lives they are influencing.

In the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, we strive to provide the highest quality

education for our students, keeping our curriculum up-to-date with the latest technology and innovations in the field. It is largely through gifts from our donors that we are able to maintain the highest standards of educational experience for our students, and prepare them for careers through which they in turn can contribute to society.

We are blessed to have very generous donors, many of whom are graduates from this department. You are building a legacy that will provide continuing advancements and improvements for the department, allowing us to continue to strive toward our goal of being the greatest mechanical engineering program in the country. Your donations not only push the borders of scientific research, but also help talented and bright young students earn an education, without incurring student debts.

Our students are our future, and if these students with us tonight are any indication, it is a bright one indeed. Tonight is a celebration of the outstanding achievements of our students, a celebration of the generosity of our donors and their loyalty to their alma mater, a celebration of the joy of giving, and the celebration of the hope for a better tomorrow.

I thank our donors deeply from the bottom of my heart for their contributions to the department. To our students present here, continue on the path you are on, never stop the perseverance to excel. We will see great things from you! Thank you, and Gig ‘em.

Sincerely,

Andreas A. PolycarpouDepartment Head
