2014 FIFA World Cup - Overview of 12 Host Stadiums

Being stated as the unchallenged host for the FIFA Tournament in 2007, Brazil has once again been selected to be the venue for the FIFA World Cup 2014! The matches of FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil will be played among 12 prominent stadiums across the country. Brazil is all set to host the excitement and madness of FIFA 2014

Introduction-

Arena De Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo The opening match of FIFA 2014, Brazil

will be held in this brand new stadium. Long back in 1978, the Corinthians were granted permission to build a stadium for themselves.

Estadio Mineirao, Belo Horizonte This, historic stadium in Belo Horizonte

is listed among the national monuments in Brazil was first opened in 1965 and renovated and reopened in 2013.

Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza was

recently renovated and was declared to be the first venue to be ready for FIFA World Cup 2014. Located in the city of beaches on the north east coast of Brazil, this stadium has the capacity of around 64,846 seats.

Estadio Do Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro This iconic stadium, that first came into

being in 1950, was renovated and completed right in time for the Confederations Cup in June 2013. Like the Arena De Sao Paulo, this too is situated on the Atlantic Coast and is closer to the Tropic of Capricorn.

Estadio Nacional, Brasilia This stadium at Brasilia, was Opened in

the year 1974, after which it was renovated and reopened in May 2013. This stadium is located in the capital of Brazil in the central highlands. Built with the capacity of 68,009 seats, it is approximately 724 miles away from Rio.

Arena Pernambuca, Recife This brand new stadium was recently

built and opened in May 2013 in the outskirts of Recife. The enormous structure that has the capacity of 44, 248 seats is constructed in an economically deprived area and said to be a catalyst for local regeneration.

Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador This Stadium is a reconstruction of a

demolished stadium that was first opened in 1951. 92% of the debris of the old structure were reused in constructing the brand new stadium that reopened in April 2013.

Estadio Pantanal, Cuiaba This stadium was constructed to

complement the biodiversity of Patanal. It was constructed using certified wood and recycled construction material.

Estadio Da Baixada, Curitiba Originally constructed in 1914 can

be said to be the oldest stadiums among the venues selected this year. It is now reconstructed with extra rows of seats added on two sides.

Estadio Amazonia, Manaus This stadium is rebuilt with an elaborate steel

structure that is imported from the Portugal. Situated in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, it is the furthest north among all the venues for the football world cup in Brazil. The distance between this stadium and Rio is 2,659 miles. And it is near to Ecuador, so you can also travel to Galapagos islands.

Estadio Das Dunas, Natal The Estadio Das Dunas is a new

stadium that has been constructed in a place where the Machadao Stadium once existed and was later demolished in 2011

Estadio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre This is the largest stadium situated in the south of Brazil and was first constructed in the year 1969. It has now been renovated by adding a roof to it. It is situated in the farthest south among all the host cities of FIFA World Cup 2014.
