San Fran. The City by the Bay.Some cities are so iconic they seem to have sprung to life from a postcard. With famous landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower and Fisherman’s Wharf, it is no wonder why San Francisco is so beloved by both residents and tourists alike. Built up during the height of the California Gold Rush, this charming city has continued to expand and flourish. The cultural identity of San Francisco is closely tied to its diverse neighborhoods and districts. Among these is picturesque Nob Hill with its historic cable cars and luxury hotels; Alamo Square and its Painted Ladies – the famous bright and colorful Victorian rowhouses so frequently shown in film and television; and the multisensory experiences that can be found amidst the authentic backdrop of Chinatown. Other areas such as Haight-Ashbury, the Castro, the Mission and the Tenderloin have far-reaching historical and social significance and have played a large part in shaping this city into the urban metropolis it is today.

Queen City of the Plains. The Mile High City. The capital of Colorado got its start in the 1800s as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. With the advent of the railway, Denver’s size and population boomed. Leveraging its geographic location, the city built a strong economy from the storage and distribution of goods and services. This city’s scenic skyline, framed by the majestic Rocky Moun-tains, makes for an unforgettable sight. Due to its deep appreciation of its natural surroundings, Denver has established a multitude of public parks and open spaces. It also offers cultural experiences unlike any other. With the second largest performing arts center in the world and the scenic Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver has served as the hotspot for many legendary musical and theatrical performances. Bustling urban centers like the lower downtown area (LoDo) provide seemingly endless options for art galleries, restaurants, bars and clubs and give this city its metropolitan appeal.

D-Town. The Big D. America’s Favorite City.Dallas is a friendly and welcoming city with a culture almost expansive as its size. This star of Texas is home to the largest urban arts district in the U.S. and has a rich and diverse musical heritage. There is never a shortage of amazing dining options as Dallas boasts more restaurants than New York City and has the largest state fair and farmers market in the entire U.S. It is not only a cultural center, but an economic one as well. Dallas hosts the third-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation and with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport being one of the largest and busiest in the world, this city is clearly a trade and transportation hub. Taking all that Dallas has to offer into account, it certainly seems true that “Everything is bigger in Texas.”

Chi-Town. The Windy City.Home of the first modern skyscrapers and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie School, the heritage of this visionary city has influenced architecture like no other. Raised out the ashes of the Great Chicago Fire, its impressive skyline is comprised of such well known buildings as the Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, Trump Tower, Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building. Although best known for Chicago-style hot dogs and deep dish pizza, the culinary experience extends far be-yond these simpler options with unique international fare. Interwoven into the fabric of Chicago’s identity is a passion for musical expression. Chicago has consistently pushed the boundaries by developing its own individual style of blues, jazz, soul and gospel music. The culture of this innovative city is further enriched through its abundance of public art. Installations from Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Jean Dubuffet, Marc Chagall and Alexander Calder encourage inspiration in an engaging and accessible way.

The District. DC. The Federal City. With every brick and stone, the District of Columbia has forever earned its place in history. Its classical architecture, large public monuments, and historic landmarks have come to be synonymous with the U.S. government and form the basis of identity for the country itself. Though small in territory, Washington D.C. carries the stature of an expansive state.
