Michael R. DahlPresident

Mike graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and completed his mortuary studies at the University of Minnesota. He has been affi liated with the

Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo since 1975. He has served as an offi cer in and represented District IV as a District Director for many years. He has served MFDA in many capacities, including all offi cer positions and as MFDA President in 1995 - 1996. He has spent over half of his funeral service career serving MFDA on the Board of Directors. He has served on various MFDA Committees and Task Forces including Continuing Education, 149 Revision Task Force and is currently a member of the 149A Task Force. He was a Trustee for the Funeral Service Benefi t Trust, served on the Master Trust Board and represented MFDA on the NFDA Policy Board. He has been a member of the Academy of Funeral Service Practice since 1979 and is a certifi ed Funeral Service Practitioner. Mike has been very active in and supporter of the Children’s Grief Connection and has been a staff member numerous times at the Hearts of Hope Camp. He is a third generation funeral director. Mike’s family includes his wife, Judy, two daughters, Christy and Laurie and four grandchildren.

Michael CudmoreIncoming President

Michael Cudmore was raised in Internation-al Falls, Minnesota where my father owned and operated Cudmore Funeral Home for 42 years. After graduation from the Falls

High School, I attended the University of Minnesota, De-partment of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1970.I served my internship at John Billman Funeral Service in Minneapo-lis. In 1972 I moved to Rochester and worked for the Macken Funeral Home for a short time moving to Perham in 1972 and worked for Schoeneberger Funeral Home. I moved to Bagley in 1976 to work for Ed and Wayne Cease at the Cease Funeral Home. I was a member of the Bagley Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years and served as Fire Chief for 14 years, EMT volunteer on the ambulance service and taught C.P.R. classes. I am past president of the Bagley Lions Club and Bagley Rotary Club. I served as treasurer for Ducks Unlimited for 10 years and served as president of Clearwater Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunter’s Association. I am a member of the Koochiching Masonic Lodge of Internation-al Falls. I am past president of Faith Lutheran Church and am currently serving as treasurer of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association.

I have served as Deputy Coroner/Coroner Investigator for Clearwater County for over 35 years. I enjoy hunting, fishing and spending time at my cabin in the woods and at Upper Red Lake. I was united in marriage to Linda (Drellack) Arnold on April 9, 2011 in Bagley. Linda works as a supervisor of dietary and housekeeping at the Sanford Bagley Medical Center in Bagley. I have three children, Kristin (Kirk) Willberg who lives in Bagley and teaches in Fosston, MN; Scott Cud-more, whose home base is Bagley and works construction in Stanley, North Dakota and Michelle Cudmore, who lives in Bagley, MN and is a registered nurse in the ICU at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, MN. I have four beau-tiful grandchildren, Hillary Cudmore, Marryn, Kendra and Kailin Willberg. I also have three step-children, Katie, Matt and Chris Arnold and four step-grandchildren, Logan and Landen Vettleson and twins- Levi and Loryn Vettleson. Linda and I live South of Bagley and north of Itasca State Park.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Jerry Kill Tuesday, 9:00 - 9:50 a.m. | Garden CityNamed head coach of the University of Minnesota football program on December 7, 2010. He completed his 20th year of being a head college football coach in 2013 and his overall collegiate head coaching record is 144-94.

Kill’s rebuilding of the Minnesota program is also taking place in the classroom. The Gophers recorded a 994 Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the 2011-12 season, the first under Kill’s leadership. The 994 score is the highest single-season score that the Minnesota football team has ever recorded and only 10 teams have tied or beaten a score of 994 since the NCAA has made single-season scores available.Kill came to Minnesota after spending three seasons on the sidelines at NIU. Kill led the Huskies to three consecutive bowl games during his tenure and also coached NIU to a berth the Mid-American Conference Championship game in 2010. Kill was 23-16 in his three seasons with the Huskies.

Thomas Lynch Wednesday, 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. | Garden City Licensed Funeral Director and Author of The Good Funeral Thomas Lynch is a funeral director and the author of several books of essays, poems, and short stories. His

book The Undertaking: Life Studies from the Dismal Trade won an American Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award. His work has been the subject of two documentary films, including the Emmy Award-winning The Undertaking (PBS Frontline, 2007). He recently co-authored the Good Funeral with Thomas G. Long.

Captain’s, 1 CEUMary Ann Sens, M.D., Ph.D. Medical Examiner: Kittson, Marshall, Polk, Norman, Red Lake and Mahnomen Counties; Coroner: Grand Forks County, NDThe session will feature several cases illustrating when Medical Examiner / Coroner notifi cation is required in MN 390.Dr. Sens is Professor and Chair of Pathology at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. In 2003, she established an autopsy and forensic pathology consulting services which has grown to include counties in Eastern ND and NW Minnesota. The group now includes three Board-certifi ed Forensic Pathologists serving counties and hospitals in MN, ND and SD. A new, 7800 square foot autopsy facility is in place and operating in Grand Forks, ND serving the Northern Plains region for private, hospital, family and forensic autopsy services.

Dr. Sens is former President of NAME (National Association of Medical Examiners), MN Coroners and Medical Examiners Association and is active in numerous forensic and pathology professional organizations.
