Out of the classroom, into the field You can’t learn to swim unless you’re in the water.
Imagine learning the human body on cadavers in the anatomy lab. Or, putting your meteorology course work to the test as the chief meteorologist for News Central 34, CMU’s award-winning student-run television news program. How about joining the CMU Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Team to design and build a one-person, off-road vehicle to race over rocks, ditches, mud and sometimes even water?

Centralis Scholar Award. Awarded to 20 outstanding students and covers 100 percent of tuition, room and board, and some general expenses.*
Centralis Gold Award. Awarded to 130 outstanding students and covers 100 percent of tuition.*
Centralis Scholarships: High school students with GPAs of 3.7 or higher and an ACT composite of 27 or higher can compete for our top academic achievement scholarships.
* Up to 36 credits per academic year. Renewable for up to four years.
Merit scholarships for freshmen: You may automatically qualify for one of three academic scholarships awarded on a first-come, first-served basis when you have a GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of at least 21 (SAT 1470).
Academic Prestige Award: $24,000 over 4 years (≥3.25 GPA and ≥27 ACT) (SAT≥1820)
Academic Excellence Award: $18,000 over 4 years (≥3.00 GPA and ≥23 ACT) (SAT ≥1590)
Academic Success Award: $12,000 over 4 years (≥3.00 GPA and ≥21 ACT) (SAT ≥1470)
Merit scholarships for transfers: Similar to the freshman merit awards, this series of scholarships is awarded to students with strong college GPAs.
Community College Honors Scholarship for Transfers: $5,000 over 2 years (≥3.5 GPA and 56 transferable credits)
Community College Transfer Recognition Award: $2,000 over 2 years (≥3.3 GPA and 30 transferable credits)
President’s Awards: Awarded to students who are not Michigan residents, this program allows students to pay in-state tuition rates if they enter with a 2.75 or higher GPA.
Multicultural Advancement and Leader Advancement scholarships: Both are based on demonstrated leadership and a commitment to help others. Information about these programs is available at cmich.edu/macscholars and cmich.edu/cmulead, respectively.
