Course Learning Outcome :

1. Explain concepts on profession, ethics, accountability and teacher professionalism 2. Discuss characteristics of a teacher as a professional.3. Analyse career development from the stage of a beginning teacher to a higher

stage of development.4. Plan a self development plan to become a professional.5. Perform the role as a professional leader in various aspects of school management

and administration.

This project is to assess the Learning Outcomes 3,4,and 5.

Project Assignment Objectives :

Students can perform the following task :

1. Analyse and provide implications to the stages of teacher development. 2. Make plans to enhance your professionalism as a teacher. 3. Create self thoughts of teachers’ leadership.

Part A – Group (20%) (15 minutes of Power Point presentation)

a) Explain the career opportunities and stages of teacher development from beginning teacher to master teacher level.

Part B – Individual (70%)

There are four attributes in a profession, a member must master profound knowledge, competence and expertise in a particular field, a code of ethics to regulate the behavior of members and permission / consent given to a profession by society to operate. (Ornstein and Levine, 1993)

b) Discuss how far a teacher’s planning can enhance the level of teacher professionalism.

(70 marks)

Part C – Reflection (10%)

c) The process of producing future leaders depends on the pattern of teacher leadership competencies in the classroom. Express your opinion on the above mentioned statement.

1. The group task can be performed in maximum of 3 persons.

2. Each member in the group is required to answer the question 'b' and 'c' individually.

3. Assignments is assessed through essay writing with reflection (individual project) and group presentation and your ability to present facts andarguments. Attachments are encouraged.

4. The overall length of your essay :a) Group Essay between 3 - 4 pages (not exceeding 1000 words)b) Individual Essay between 5 - 6 pages (not exceeding 1500 words)c) Reflection between 1 - 2 pages (not exceeding 500 words)

5. Arial font - size 12, double spaced typewritten. .

6. References according to APA format (American Psychological Association).

7. Assignments should demonstrate originality, maturity and of academic quality. Plagiarism is not allowed.
