2014 TRIP OPPORTUNITIESInspiring the next generation of socially responsible architects and designers

MISSION

Rebuild Global is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to deliver socially respon-sible and sustainable architecture and de-sign solutions where they are unavailable and needed most.

We challenge architects and designers to work with communities, solving problems in inno-vative ways using our creative expertise and volunteer network to execute smart solutions. We gauge our success by the growth of the or-ganization and the influence we have on en-couraging designers to engage more actively as leaders and to elevate the power and influ-ence of design on our society.

We have provided our design services to indi-vidual clients and international organizations assisting in the development of affordable housing projects, community centers, school gardens, design competitions and classroom facilities.

Rebuild Global is built on two simple principles: to provide design and construction resources where they are scarce and needed most, and to cultivate a movement of compassion and service within the design community.

GLOBAL ASSISTANCE

As a part of Rebuild Global’s continuing efforts to address humanitarian concerns, we have partnered with a number of organizations around the world, launching an international program that allows you, as a participant, to travel overseas and spend two weeks or more with any one of our partners in India, Africa or Guatemala.

With millions of people lacking access to basic services such as housing, food, water, health, sanitation and education, Rebuild Global rec-ognizes the important role architects and de-signers play in driving social innovation.

By connecting designers with local communi-ties through hands-on research and action in foreign locales, participants are given the op-portunity to utilize their skills to bring families out of poverty, provide better opportunities for boys and girls to access schools and educa-tion or deliver solutions that improve access to water, food, health and sanitation.

He envisioned young people “building bridges of friendship to Africa.” The organization’s motto is “make a difference for others, see the differ-ence in yourself.”

Rebuild Global has partnered with OCA to work on projects that require the assistance of architects and designers to support the design, drawings and plans for a proposed library and physical recreation center on the existing site.

Participants will spend three orientation days before departure in New York City, six work weeks on the development project in The Gambia, including one travel week.
