Từ xưa, người Việt Nam có câu ‘Con quan thì được làm quan. Con sãi ở chùa thì quét lá đa.’ Có nghĩa là: cha mẹ làm nghề gi thì con cái sau này sẽ tiếp nối nghề nghiệp của cha mẹ. Từ thời xa xưa ấy, người ta đã nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của giáo dục và học vấn. Khi chưa có trường học và các cơ sở giáo dục khác, người ta đã học hỏi các ngành nghề của cha ông. Con của quan thì học cách làm quan và sau đó sẽ làm quan. Con nông dân, thì học cách canh tác ruộng lúa, hoa màu và sẽ trở thành nông dân.

Xã hội ngày nay đã thay đổi. Nhờ có các trường học, tạo cho chúng ta vốn kiến thức căn bản, làm nền tảng để chúng ta có thể lựa chọn một nghề thích hợp cho bản thân mặc dù cha mẹ không làm nghề đó. Thí dụ như cha mẹ Lan là một công nhân làm trong hãng xưởng, nếu Lan muốn trở thành công nhân như cha mẹ thì cũng được. Nhưng nếu Lan muốn trở thành một kỹ sư, bác sĩ, nhạc sĩ, phi công, nhà tâm lý, viết lập trình … đều có thể được. Trên thế giới này đã có biết bao nhiêu người làm các công việc mà cha mẹ họ chưa từng làm. Chẳn hạn như có các vị tổng thống của rất nhiều quốc gia, mà cha mẹ họ chưa từng làm tổng thống bao giờ. Cũng như có rất nhiều kỹ sư, bác sĩ trong cộng đồng người Việt chúng ta mà cha mẹ họ chưa một ngày làm kỹ sư hay bác sĩ.

Chính vì vậy mà người ta bây giờ thường nói ‘học vấn là chìa khóa mở tất cả các cửa vào tương lai’. Có học vấn, người ta có thề làm bất cứ ngành nghề nào mà họ thích. Ở các quốc gia tiến bộ, chính phủ có nhiều chương trình khuyến khích người dân đi học để vào được các ngành nghề mà họ thích. Chẳn hạn như ở Úc, nhà trường đã tổ chức các cuộc trãi nghiệm cho học sinh có cơ hội tiếp xúc với các công việc mà họ dự định sẽ theo đuổi, xem công việc đó có thích hợp hay không. Cho nên, chúng ta hãy xem xét cẩn thận mình thích làm nghề gì, và cố gắng theo đuổi ước mơ đó, để biến ước mơ thành sự thật, dựa vào học vấn của mình.

Công nghệ biến đường thành quần áo

Ở Singapore, các nhà nghiên cứu vừa phát hiện một phản ứng hóa học mới có thể chuyển hóa trực tiếp đường thành acid adipic.

Acid adipic là hóa chất quan trọng dùng trong sản xuất nylon, quần áo và nhiều sản phẩm thông dụng khác như thảm, dây thừng hay lông bàn chải đánh răng. Về mặt thương mại, acid adipic được sản xuất từ hóa chất có nguồn gốc dầu mỏ thông qua quá trình oxy hóa acid nitric, theo đó thải một lượng lớn nitơ oxit – một loại khí nhà kính là nguyên nhân chủ yếu của hiện tượng ấm lên toàn cầu.

Acid adipic có nguồn gốc sinh học có thể được tổng hợp từ acid mucic, được oxy hóa từ đường, và acid mucic có thể được chiết xuất từ vỏ trái cây. Các quy trình hiện tại được thực hiện với quá nhiều bước mà hiệu quả và năng suất thấp, hoặc trong những điều kiện phản ứng khó khăn với khí hydro áp suất cao và nhiều loại acid mạnh, vốn tốn kém và không an toàn.

Các nhà nghiên cứu cho biết phản ứng xúc tác hóa học mới mà họ đưa ra rất đơn giản, hiệu quả và ‘xanh.’ Để chuyển acid mucic thành acid adipic, phản ứng mục tiêu là khử cả nước và oxy, theo đó oxy và nước sẽ được loại bỏ cùng lúc. Các nhà nghiên cứu phát hiện bằng cách kết hợp phản ứng khử cả nước và oxy kết hợp với phản ứng chuyển hóa hydro, cộng thêm một loại dung môi rượu, trong lò phản ứng, họ có thể thu được một lượng lớn acid adipic với tỷ lệ 99% nguyên liệu ban đầu. Các phương pháp hiện tại chỉ có thể đạt được năng suất khoảng 60%.

Phương pháp nói trên là lý tưởng cho phát triển công nghiệp bởi quá trình này có thể được tiến hành trong một vài bước, sản phẩm cuối cùng là tinh khiết, và trong các điều kiện phản ứng nhẹ và an toàn.

Tiến sĩ Zhang Yugen, trưởng nhóm nghiên cứu của IBN về hóa học và năng lượng xanh, cho biết: ‘Nghiên cứu này cho thấy tiềm năng to lớn để phát triển acid adipic có nguồn gốc sinh học. Chúng tôi rất vui khi phương pháp mới của mình có thể chuyển hóa hiệu quả đường thành acid adipic, đưa chúng ta tiến gần hơn một bước đến con đường công nghiệp hóa. Để hoàn thiện công nghệ xanh này, chúng tôi đang sử dụng sinh khối thô làm nguyên liệu’ (Vietnamplus, 4/2014).
