Press Release 11 March 2014 For Immediate Release 2014 Series kicks off with packed grids! The 2014 Pirelli Queensland Road Race Championships featuring the Southern Downs Road Race Series is set to get racing this weekend. Bikes will be on track from 8:30am Saturday and Sunday (15 th and 16 th , March) at Morgan Park. With 109 riders making up 136 entries, grids are packed and competition will be fierce in all categories. Round 1 will see Superbike and Supersport headline the event with riders battling for points in the first of 2 rounds to become Queensland Champions! “After a long summer break, it's refreshing to return to Morgan Park Raceway for Rd 1 of the combined Pirelli Queensland Road Race Championship and Southern Downs Road Race Series. It's great to have the MRRDA competitors with us for this round, no other national series supports junior road racing and we are proud to be one of the clubs supporting the MRRDA with junor developmen. The juniors always put on a great show and we love giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent and build their racecraft. With a healthy amount of entries across all classes, the outlook for road-racing in queensland this year, and into the future, is looking bright.” - Paul Dawson, Club President Juniors will also feature at round one as part of the MRRDA national junior championship, and these kids put it all on the line, with juniors ages from 12 to 16 years of age expect them to utilise all their skills to better the rest. The fastest juniors in their category will be crowned Australian Champion at the completion of their 5 round series, this weekend marks the ½ way point of their series so come and check out the future talent of Australian road racing in action. Spectator entry to round 1 is free, including access to the pits. So come out and watch the action, and have a wander around the pits and talk to the riders. With all level of riders and machinery present there will be something to tickle your fancy!
