March 16, 2014
The Top Ten Ways to Know If You Are Obsessed with
Prophecy
1. You always leave the top down on you convertible in casethe Rapture happens.
2. You never buy green bananas.3. You talk your church into adapting the 60s pop song, Up,
Up, and Away as a Christian hymn.4. Bar code scanners make you nervous.5. You refuse a tax refund check because the amount
comes to $666.6. You can name more signs of the times than you can
commandments.7. You believe that there is an original Greek and Hebrew
text with Scofields notes.8. You believe the term Church Fathers refers to Hal
Lindsey and Tim LaHaye.9. You get goose bumps when you hear a trumpet.10. You use the Left Behind books as devotional reading.

One of my friends, who attended Dallas Theological Seminarymany years ago, told me that one of his professors walked intoclass one day and abruptly announced that he had become an
amillennialist. Now, at Dallas Seminary, which is stronglypremillennial, this was a very bold statement to make. However, the professor went on to explain. He informed the class that hehad been having some troubles and had read Isaiah 11 in hisBible the night before. Isaiah describes the pristine conditionson the earth during the coming Millennium. After finishing thechapter, the professor said he sat back in his chair and said, Ah,Millennium.
When we look at our present world with all its difficulty, depression, and despair and then imagine the millennialkingdom, it is a refreshing thought. Every believer in Christshould be an Ah-millennialist. We should look forward to thatday when the earth will glorify the Lord and paradise will beregained.
Steve Brown told a story on his radio program about the ugliestcar he had ever seen. It had a large gash on its side; the doorwas held together with baling wire; many places on the car wererusted out. The muffler was loose and, with every bump, washitting the street, sending sparks in every direction. It was hardto tell the original color of the car. The rust had eaten awaymuch of the original paint, and so much of the car had beenpainted over with so many different colors that any one of them,or none of them, could have been the first coat. The mostinteresting thing about the car was the bumper sticker. It read,
This is not an abandoned car.
We live in a fallen world. It is often ugly and depressing.Everywhere we turn we find tragedy and heartache. Our worldseems to be sitting on the verge of disaster. We might betempted to wonder if God really cares about this world. But thepromise of the Millennium is Gods sign that reads, This is notan abandoned world. Jesus is coming someday to restoreparadise on earth.1

When we look back on history from eternity, we will be amazed at howcontinually God took ourlittleand made it much.
To encourage the hearts of the workers, God gives them a propheticglance into the future.
THE REVEAL
God gives Haggai five glimpses
1) He glimpsed an unshakable kingdom(2:6-7).

5) He glimpsed an unbelievable picture.
The Almost/Not Yet
Solomon, a son of David, would build the templebuthe was not The Temple Builder.
AlmostNot yet
Zerubabel would reunite the Davidic lineand build the
temple, but he was not the Messiah.AlmostNot yet
Christ, in His first coming, was the only one who couldrestorethe line and bring glory to the temple, but Godsplan was to first purchase our redemption.
AlmostNot yet
Revelation 20 = The best is yet to come.
Zerubabel was a small picture of what was to come.
