What is Feed Salem? April is one of the lowest

months for emergency food supply in the Salem

Keizer area. Through this city-wide project whichincludes over ! churches" we want to reach out to

local families and ma#e sure they have enough food

to sustain them through this low giving time. $ut not

only to meet their physical needs" %ut to also minister

to their spiritual needs. That means sharing the

Gospel with them!

&ompleted food %o'es can %e dropped off at the

church %eginning (riday" April 4 from )am to * pm.+n April 5" after a time of prayer and training" food

in our area.

“Billy Graham includes the following amazing story of God’s carefor his people in his wonderful little book, Angels: God’s Secret

Agents :

The Reverend John G. Paton, a missionary in the NewHebrides Islands, tells a thrilling story involving the protectivecare of angels. Hostile natives surrounded his missionheadquarters one night, intent on burning the Patons out andkilling them. John Paton and his wife prayed all during thatterror-filled night that God would deliver them. When

daylight came, they were amazed to see the attackers leave.They thanked God for delivering them.

A year later the chief of the tribe was converted to JesusChrist. Paton, remembering what had happened, asked thechief what had kept him and his men from burning down thehouse and killing them. The chief replied in surprise, ‘Whowere all those men you had with you there?’ The missionaryanswered, ‘There were no men there; just my wife and I.’

The chief argued that they had seen many men standing

guard – hundreds of big men in shining garments with drawnswords in their hands. They seemed to circle the missionstation so that the natives were afraid to attack. Only thendid Paton realize that God had sent His angels to protectthem (Graham, Angels: God’s Secret Agents , Garden City,N.Y.: Doubleday, 1975, p. 3).

God does not always act in such an unusual manner, but he isalways concerned for the welfare of his children. This is themessage of the first two chapters of the Book of Zechariah. Inthese chapters God expresses his concern for the helpless and

oppressed people of ancient Judah. Zechariah begins with a callto repentance (which the people heed) and follows with threefascinating visions, each conveying in some manner God’s carefor his people. Zechariah’s message of God’s care was writtennot only for the Jews of twenty-five hundred years ago but forbelievers today.”

A SIGNIFICANT CALL

“Return to me” is an ancient call to repentance.
