EFI is pleased to announce the release of Fiery proServer Version 6. The latest release features FAST RIP (Fiery Accelerated System Technology), EFI proprietary developed technology that significantly increases the processing speed of the proServer. The software upgrade to proServer Version 6 is available exclusively on the Fiery proServer, free of charge to everyone covered under the EFI Software Maintenance and Support Agreement (SMSA) or the Enhanced Support Program (ESP). Some of the latest enhancements are:

Productivity Improvements:

• Implementation of the FAST RIP (Fiery Accelerated System Technology). FAST RIP is EFI proprietary developed technology, available exclusively on the Fiery proServer. It results in significant performance increase, improving both the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) as well as the Adobe Post Script Interpreter (CPSI). The new FAST RIP processes PDFs up to 7 times faster then before.

• Adobe PDF Print Engine instances (up to four) have been re-implemented in Fiery proServer as separate processes. This leads to increased stability and performance on Mac and Windows platforms.

• Implementation of WYSIWYG Tiling, which features a preview of single tiles including tile marks, overlapping, glue areas and tile footers. The PDF assembly guide includes information about tile placement.

Color Quality Improvements:

• Fiery Dynamic Smoothing smoothens gradations, compression artifacts and highlight areas without affecting fonts and fine contours. As a result stepping in gradients virtually eliminated. This feature is available for any file format and any printer.

• Compliance with Fogra Process Standard Digital, which provides industrial guidelines for processes from data creation to printing. PSD focuses on understanding and control of the entire workflow for a more predictable print result.

o Fiery proServer Version 6 supports all required PSD print checks:

! Side-by-side validation

! Media-relative validation

! Side-by-side and media-relative validation

! Support for Latest Industry Standards for digital print production and proofing

o CRPC, GRACoL and SWOP 2013 references

o IDEAlliance ISO 12647-7 Control Wedge 2013

Integration Improvements

• Copy Count and Print Signal Enhancements refer to the bidirectional communication improvements for EFI VUTEk printers. As a result there is better copy count handling and improved print-time reporting per job, page or complete job.

Usability Improvements:

• Improved Grommet Mark Implementation. There is new distance from job corner to first job (offset) feature to place grommets more effectively.

• File Import Feedback, where a small arrow icon displays currently importing jobs. Users can also cancel job import for individual jobs.

• Improved Preview Handling. As a result nesting previews load much faster. Also reviews update more quickly when users switch through jobs in the job list.

• Improved Job Cloning - Cloning jobs will no longer select the last copy in the job list, which forced users to scroll all the way up to the “Nesting” entry.

• Media Catalog. New user interface includes information about the media white point.

• Improved Online Help, where there are hyperlinks “related topics” in the online help.
