HUMBER HAS THE LARGEST VARSITy ATHLETICS pROGRAM OF ANy COLLEGE IN ONTARIO AND WE HAVE THE MEDALS TO pROVE IT.

Humber Athletics In the 2012/2013 season, our varsity athletes won 13 team and individual gold medals in provincial competitions and three national championships. In the past three seasons, we’ve had 13 players named the Ontario Collegiate Athletics Association’s Player of the Year. And even if you don’t play varsity, there are lots of other ways to break a sweat, from intramural and extramural sports to cheering from the stands.

Transfer options, a wide range of credentials and specialized programs help you map your journey to success. Take a foundation program, then move to a diploma. Complete a diploma, then apply for advanced standing to a degree. The path is yours to choose.

Foundation Programs (2–3 semesters)Our foundation certificates allow you to gain and upgrade the skills you need to pursue further studies or get on track to launch your career. These programs will help you build a portfolio, develop and hone your skills or take the next step in your career.

Certificates (2–3 semesters)One-year and short-term certificates allow you to establish a foundation of knowledge in a given field or upgrade your skills in your current career.

Graduate Certificates (2–3 semesters)Intended for students who already have a bachelor’s degree, graduate certificates allow you to gain specialized knowledge and job experience in your field of interest.

diplomas (4 semesters)Our career-focused diplomas are designed to give you specialized knowledge enabling you to be work-ready when you graduate.

Transfer OptionsHumber offers many ways to transfer between credentials and institutions. You can start in a certificate program then progress to a diploma. From there, earn a diploma and transfer your credits towards a degree. For example, students who complete Humber’s three-year Business Administration advanced diploma program can transfer into most of our Bachelor of Commerce degrees for the final two years of study. Students completing a comparable Business Administration advanced diploma at another Ontario college may be qualified for entry into year three of most of Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce degrees.

Apprenticeships (3–4 years) Apprenticeships offer you the opportunity to learn an in-demand skill in a variety of fields. We help get you ready for the work place through practical experience and in-school training.

GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA — QueeN’sdiamoNdJuBiLeemedaL

For Amber, a student in Humber’s Public relations diploma program, winning the Queen’s diamond Jubilee Medal was merely a step along a long path of social advocacy and community involvement.

The award, which has honoured the accomplishments of 60,000 Canadians across the country and internationally, was given to Amber for her work with the South Etobicoke Youth Assembly (SEYA).

“SEYA was the heart and soul of my community work,” says Amber, who began working with the organization when she was 12. “during my time with SEYA, I learned more than I ever could have hoped, and took advantage of every opportunity to learn and lead.”

And lead she did. As a result of her 11 years of advocacy work with SEYA, Amber has been co-chair of the City of Toronto Youth Strategy Panel and was part oftheLakeshoreCommunityCentreWorkingGroup.She now serves on the Board of directors of The remix Project, an urban arts program for marginalized young people and is on the Advisory Committee for theLaidlawFoundation,whichprovidesfundingforyouth programs across southern Ontario.

Katherine finished a degree in Theatre Performance and English before deciding she wanted more out of her education. She chose Humber’s Journalism – Print and Broadcast – Accelerated advanced diploma program because it would allow her to put her theatre skills to good use while also honing her ability to tell stories in creative ways.

Your portfolio submission should include:- exactly ten samples of your best creative work (this can be in any media – drawing, painting, digital, musical, written, photography, etc.). A variety of media is ideal as we can see how you work creatively with different tools- a short written essay (150 – 300 words), that creatively outlines who you are, your artistic background, and why you are interested in studying 3d Animation at Humber. The essay should also communicate what you hope to gain by studying in this program, as well as your artistic influences and inspirations (i.e. whose work you admire).
