Sexuality Retreat! Sex is everywhere in the world
around us today. Television shows, movies, websites
and school hallways contain sexual images and
messages. As young people digest the messages the
surrounding culture feeds them about human sexuality,
it’s imperative for the church to serve the main course.
The main course is that our sexuality is a wonderful gift
from God.
9th Grade Confirmation
Faith Statements
o 9th graders preparing for the Rite of Confirmation will
write a Faith Statement or prepare a creative project
that expresses their faith as the final step of the
Confirmation journey. Each student will meet one-on-
one with a minister to discuss their completed work.
o Students will have the opportunity to present their
Faith Statements to the congregation through displays
and sharing in worship.
7
Stoles
o 9th graders preparing for the Rite of Confirmation will
create their own stole to wear for worship. This is a
great & fun tradition here at Christ the King.
Promises Made by Confirmand
I ask you to profess your faith in Christ Jesus, reject sin, and confess
the faith of the church.
Do you renounce the devil and all the forces that defy God?
Do you renounce the powers of this world that rebel against God?
Do you renounce the ways of sin that draw you from God?
Do you believe in God the Father?
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?
You have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to
continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism?
To live among God’s faithful people,
To hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper,
To proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word
and deed,
To serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
And to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?
Response: I do and I ask God to help and guide me.

Promises Parents Make At Baptism
As you bring your child to receive the gift of baptism,
you are entrusted with responsibilities:
To live with her/him among God’s faithful people,
Bring her/him to the word of God and the holy
supper,
Teach him/her the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed and the
Ten commandments,
Place in their hands the Holy Scriptures and nurture
them in faith and prayer so that your child may learn
to trust God,
Proclaim Christ through word and deed,
Care for others and the world God made,
And work for justice and peace.
Do you promise to help your child grow in the Christian
faith and life?
Response: I do
