GRADUATION REQUIREMENTSStudents are required to earn 27 units of credit including:

Carmel Catholic uses the university model rotation schedule which allows for 70-minute classes twice every three days. Students must take a total of seven classes during freshman, sophomore and junior year. Seniors are required to take six classes; they have the option of a seventh class or early dismissal.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOMCarmel Catholic is committed to providing our students with the technology resources that will both bolster their education here at Carmel as well as prepare them for the ever-changing world. One of the cornerstones of our use of technology is our 1:1 program. Carmel Catholic is proud to have been at the forefront of innovative instructional technology with our 1:1 program. Beginning in the fall of 2012, each student at Carmel Catholic was issued a tablet to support their learning needs. As we move into the second generation of our program, each student is given a Lenovo Yoga Chromebook. These devices help support our teachers and students implementation of best practices inside and outside of the classroom.

We also understand that best practices demand a wider array of resources than one device. Our students have access to Mac labs with Adobe Creative Suite, a fully-equipped broadcast studio, large format printing capabilities, cutting edge science computer resources and a myriad of other opportunities to grow as learners.

CARLOS J. SERNA LEARNING RESOURCE CENTERThe Carlos J. Serna Learning Resource Center was established in 2009 to support students who are admitted to Carmel Catholic with documented disabilities which impact learning and have an active formalized Individual Service Plan (ISP) or Section 504 Plan.

Carmel Catholics Campus Ministry program fosters healthy spirituality by providing students meaningful opportunities to develop, express and share their faith. Programs and activities include numerous retreats, prayer groups, school liturgies, peer ministry, Catholic Charities mission collections and liturgical planning committees.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROGRAMCarmel Catholic believes that the spiritual growth students experience through ministry to others will lead to a lifetime commitment to service. All students participate in the schools Christian Service Program, which requires each student to perform 20 hours of services to the community each semester.

PRAYEREach school day begins and ends in prayer. All class periods, assemblies, athletic events and extracurriculars begin in prayer as well.

KAIROS RETREATSeniors are asked to participate in one Kairos retreat during their time at Carmel Catholic. Described by many students as life-changing, this four-day faculty and student led retreat gives young people a chance to see God at work in their daily lives.

ACADEMIC SERVICESSchool counselors assist students with questions involving their academic life, career plans and college applications. Students are assigned a counselor for all four years of their Carmel Catholic journey.

COLLEGE AND CAREER RESOURCESThe College and Career Resource Center helps students gain acceptance into some of the finest colleges and universities in the nation by guiding students and parents each step of the way.

SOCIAL SERVICESThe school social worker assists students with making healthy life choices by offering a variety of support services including individual counseling, support groups and outside counseling referrals.

Getting To Carmel Catholic

Carmel Catholic provides supervision to students who arrive at school as early as 6:30 a.m. and leave as late as 5:00 p.m.

The AdmissionsProcess

Step 1: Take the Entrance ExamAll students entering ninth grade must take the Entrance Exam, which will be administered on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 8 a.m. Following the exam, the admissions committee reviews the test scores and admissions application.

Step 2: ApplyComplete and return the application for admission with all requested information to Carmel Catholic High School by January 22, 2016. All freshman applicants are required to make a $400 deposit at the time of application. Students who are not accepted to Carmel Catholic will be refunded their application fee.

Step 3: AcceptanceOnce your application is reviewed, you will receive a decision letter in mid-February. Factors that influence admission to Carmel Catholic include: the prospective students entrance exam score, junior high school report cards, previous standardized test scores, participation in co-curricular activities, the junior high school attended by the student, as well as alumni relationships with Carmel Catholic.

TUITION AND FEESTuition for the 2015-2016 school year is $10,750. There are additional fees for athletics, certain classes, course materials and some clubs.

Carmel Catholic offers three payment plans: payment in full, two-payment plan (one payment at the beginning of each semester) and a monthly plan.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEUpon completion of the admissions application, families applying for aid must complete a confidential financial assistance application and submit it to the outside vendor who evaluates the application.

Early Consideration (incoming freshmen only): Submit your application for financial aid by January 29, 2016 and provide all necessary support documentation by February 5, 2016. You will receive results of your financial aid in February.

Standard Consideration: Submit your application for financial aid and all necessary support documentation by April 1, 2016. You will receive results of your application in early June.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIESIn addition to the financial assistance offered by Carmel Catholic, a number of partial scholarships are awarded, including Entrance Exam scholarships, parish-offered scholarships and minority scholarships.

We have found that visitors who participate in this unique Shadow Day experience are less apprehensive about their impending high school experience.
