2015 was a wonderful year. The Board and staff accomplished many great things. Most importantly a total of 41,081 patients were served through 152,926 patient visits. This is an increase of 12% in patients and 10% in patient visits over 2014 and represents a 40% and 38% increase respectively over 2013. Community Health Care providers also delivered 597 babies during the year.

The Hilltop Regional Health Center, which opened in November 2013, has continued to grow it's patient population. In its last year of service the Downtown Clinic served 2,375 patients. In 2015 the Hilltop Regional Health Center, which replaced the inadequate Downtown Clinic, served 18,573 patients. In 2015, the Family Practice Physician Residency added its second class of residents to the program. The physician residency is a three-year program with six residents per class. Other health centers have found that physicians who have had their residency experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center, like Community Health Care, are more likely to continue working in community health and in the community in which they train. This will not only bring more primary care physicians to Pierce County for residency, it is likely to encourage them to continue their practice here.

The Hilltop Regional Health Center also continues to include the Dentist Residency program and the Nurse Practitioner Residency program, each a one year program of two providers per class. The Hilltop Regional Health Center supports medical and dental clinics along with an Urgent Care Clinic and pharmacy, as well as a Ryan White clinic for patients with HIV/AIDS.

We have moved into 2016 and great things continue to happen at Community Health Care. We have received funding to add behavioral health services (i.e mental health and substance abuse) at all clinics. Additional funding was also received to add dental services and pharmacy services to the Spanaway Clinic. Our physician residency program will add its third class and have a full complement of residents. To support this, half of the third floor of the Hilltop Regional Health Center which was left unfinished will be completed to provide room for the Ryan White Program and expanded primary care medical services.

Programs & ServicesAt Community Health Care no one is denied care due to inability to pay. Uninsured patients are billed on a sliding-fee scale based on income and family size. In 2015 a total of 41,081 patients were served through 152,926 patient visits. This is an increase of 12% in patients and a 10% increase in patient visits over 2014.

ProgramsMaternity Support Services

In this specialized program, expectant mothers have a nurse, social worker and nutritionist available at any time. The goal of the program is to provide education and access to community resources to help the new mother and child have a healthy start to their life together.

Ryan White ProgramThis program is a Federal program to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to provide medical care and other resources to those living with the disease.

Insurance Enrollment AssistanceIn Person Assisters help families navigate the process to enroll in insurance programs.

Outreach WorkersOutreach Workers help patients access referral services they can afford when needed care is beyond the scope of Community Health Care. They also connect patients with community services and provide interpreter services.

Family Medical Care Family medicine for children, adults and seniors
