Attitude
My positive attitude is essential in overcoming obstacles to help me improve and give my best. My positive
attitude is a key ingredient to success and leadership.
Sportsmanship
I recognise that sport is greater than the individual; that cheating reduces the stature of sport and all who
love it; that class, race and creed are never factors in the attitude of true sports people and those who
respect the virtue and values of sport
Pride
Pride drives me when the temptation is to settle for something less. I am proud to have been chosen to
represent our country.
Individual Responsibility
I alone am responsible for my performance but I will be generous in acknowledging the support of others.
Respect
I respect sport, the efforts of my competitors, my team mates and officials. I respect Australia, our Olympic
past and the spirit of Olympism.
Express Yourself
I have an opinion and will express my view with thought and consideration to others. In showing my
emotions I do with individuality and, where possible, good humour.

PRESIDENTS REPORT
Overview and Fundraising
Ladies and Gentleman,
estern Australian Olympic
Council (WAOC) for 2015.
As we approach the staging of the Games of the XXXI Olymp
Australian athletes are being named as members of the Australian Team to represent their country in their
chosen sports. I am personally pleased to report that the first selection of WA members to the Australian
Olympic Team was indeed on March 23rd from my own sport of Canoe/Kayak with Stephen Bird, Daniel
Bowker and Fernenc Szekszardi selected to represent Australia in the Sprint Canoe/Kayak discipline.
For many, 2016 will be the culmination and highlight of their sporting careers and will finally realise their
enthusiasm, commitment, dedication and pursuit of excellence in the sporting arena and we wish them every
success in achieving their respective individual and team goals.
In reflecting on their journey, it is easy, despite these challenging economic times in Western Australia, to
Committee (AOC) to send our team of athletes and officials on the last, and yet most important phase of their
journey to represent their country with distinction and pride at an Olympic Games.
On numerous occasions in the past I have stressed the importance of our role in assisting the AOC remain
independent of Government funding and being able to select and send our athletes to the Games without
fear or favor, without bias and without undue political interference of that process.
Whilst the support of Government is essential to our sporting system in achieving both participation and
performance outcomes in the lead up to an Olympic Games, the need for Australia to be represented on the
World stage and for athletes to display their skill and prowess without the AOC and/or the athletes influenced
by the political color of the day, or having to fund their own representation, is a principle which underpins our
role.
With the unwavering commitment of our dedicated Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA consisting of Perth
business leaders ably chaired by the Hon Richard Court AC, the WAOC is once again rising to the challenge
of financially assisting the AOC to send our athletes to the Olympic Games. In excess of $20,000,000 will be
required to send our contingent of approximately 450 athletes, plus officials and staff to Rio. Cumulatively
the six State Olympic Councils are responsible for fundraising $8,000,000. The WAOC has been set a target
of $800,000.
The impact of the GFC on the mining sector in WA remains a challenge to our fundraising initiatives, as it has
historically been a business sector renowned for its support of the WA community. However, I know the
Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA will not be deterred in meeting, if not exceeding our target.
With approximately 10% of the Australian team likely to be represented by Western Australian
remains incumbent on us to meet our fair share of the fundraising target. And so it was with great pride
that the Team Appeal Committee accepted a cheque from the WA Government and the people of WA
from the Minister for Sport and Recreation Hon Mia Davies MLA in the presence of The Premier, Hon.
launch
The $266,000 cheque represented 1/3 of the WAOC Team Appeal target and we are thankful that the
WA Government was again able to continue its association with the WAOC and maintain their level of
financial commitment to our cause.

Executive and Administration
On the organisational front, 2015 saw some significant challenges and change progressed during the year,
not only within our staff but also our Joint Executive membership. The resignation of the WAOC Executive
Director Jeff Healy late in 2014, ACGAWA President Gratton Wilson at the WAOC AGM in 2015, and a
number of WAOC Executive in the lead up to the 2015 AGM, enabled us to implement a new office and
staffing structure. WAOC Executive Officer Lisa Lilleyman, was appointed, and Executive Director
Fundraising for the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA; J Barrey Williams, was appointed after stepping
down as Chair of the Committee.
With this staff restructure, we have two clear areas of responsibility, with committed and dedicated staff. Lisa
in the role of Executive Officer WAOC has a key accountability to manage the office and brings significant
experience and capability to the position with key responsibility for developing, maintaining and fostering our
community and athlete services areas, establishing and forging long lasting relationships with our partners,
supporters and suppliers, committee secretarial support, financial management, annual audits and reports, and
AGM, Executive and Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA meeting preparations.
J Barrey on the other hand has a sole focus on support and delivery of the Olympic Team Appeal Committee
WA fundraising outcomes through assisting Committee members with table sales and event promotion until
the delivery of our final fundraising event for the 2016 quadrennial.
We also saw the appointment of a new Chair of the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA, the Hon. Richard
Court AC. We are fortunate to have s
Team Appeal target is achieved.
If you have not had the opportunity to meet with Lisa or J Barrey, I urge you to visit our new office inside the
new WA Institute of Sport (WAIS) facility, and introduce yourselves as members, athletes, or alumni and
be happy to secure any support or table sales you may be able to facilitate.
On the Executive membership front, we thanked Eamon Sullivan for bringing his profile and service to the
Committee however work demands precluded his continuation in that role. We farewelled Howard Read and
Liz Chetkovich and thank them for their valued contribution of their combined many years of service. We
welcomed business executive Rick Elkington and Olympian Daniel Woodhouse to the WAOC Executive.
office locations, we relocated to the most appropriate location for our operations
inside the home of elite sport in WA, the new WAIS High Performance Centre in Mt Claremont. Co-location
at WAIS means our office is situated among those that are most likely to benefit from the work that we do.
Equally we are fortunate to have access to and meet with athletes on a day to day basis to facilitate
opportunities for both the WAOC and the athletes themselves.
We are most appreciative of the ongoing support of the Minister for Sport and Recreation Hon. Mia Davies
MLA and WAIS Executive Director Steve Lawrence for their support with our office relocation. I would also
like to take this opportunity to thank Seven West Media for their support over the best part of the last 3
Olympiads in providing us with free office tenancy at their Tuart Hill premises.
As we progress into the final year of our strategic plan, athlete involvement in the delivery of our fundraising
outcomes and our other programs including promotion of Olympic values, Olympic team support, Olympic
education, history, heritage, mentoring, regional tours, community and fellowship is essential. Being at
WAIS gives us the opportunity to demonstrate and reflect the aspirations and values of the athletes
through our WAOC initiatives.
8
The significant personnel changes during 2015 have only been possible with the support of the members of
the Joint Executive of the ACGAWA and the WAOC, and enabled us to successfully transition into a new
staffing structure, reinvigorate the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA and relocate our offices whilst
continuing to pursue our strategic initiatives.
I personally have been ably assisted by my Vice-Presidents Allana Slater and Sam Castiglione, who is also the
new President of ACGAWA, and Liane Tooth, President of the WA Olympians Club who continues to
reinvigorate and enlist the support of our WA Olympic Alumni. Jointly we pursue adherence to good
governance best practice, and look towards further reinforcing the skill set of the Joint Executive as we
embark on recruitment of new Executive members and development of a revised 4 year Strategic Plan.
During 2015, we also took the time and the opportunity to reaffirm our Patrons and agreed that their terms
should be ongoing and consistent with the period of their respective positions, and I am pleased to be able to
report their unanimous acceptance of their appointments.
The last 12 months has seen a strengthening of our relationship with the AOC through their approach to Hon
Richard Court AC to Chair the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA. I wish to acknowledge our appreciation
of this approach and also take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Chair and now Executive Director of
fundraising, J Barrey Williams,
Olympiads.
Our first major fundraising initiative was the Rio Olympic Long Table Luncheon hosted by President of the
AOC, Mr John Coates AC and the Team Appeal Chairman, Hon. Richard Court AC. We were fortunate to
hear John present us with his musings on the preparations for Rio 2016. Of course John is also Vice President
of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Chair of the IOC Organising Committee for Tokyo 2020.
His presentation was both entertaining and informative. I was also fortunate to join John, while he was in
Perth, on his visit with Betty Cuthbert. Whilst Betty is no longer living independently with the support of
longtime friend Rhonda, she was very much alert and was delighted to be able to catch up with John and
reminisce over old times. She wished us well with preparations for our signature fundraising event The
(POD).
As we now rapidly close in on the staging of our signature fundraising event, I look forward to working
with the AOC, business and sporting communities, our Alumni and State Sporting Associations
(SSA s)
occasion for 2016. The AOC will be represented by Kitty Chiller, Chef de Mission of the 2016
Australian Olympic Team, and we look forward to welcoming her and the resident members of the
Australian Olympic Team in Western Australia prior to their departure for Rio. The POD Planning
Sub-committee is promising to deliver the fervor and excitement that befits and would be expected
Our POD Auction Sub-committee equally is promising some unique
and valuable pieces for auction on the night, so I urge you to ensure you get your table to what will
be a sold out 1000 seat event.

Funding
It is incumbent on me to acknowledge that our activities in WA would not be possible without the funding
model and support provided by the AOC where we work with a limited but known stipend in the 4 years of an
Olympiad. Along with our grant allocation from the WA Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and a
strategic initiatives to support our key fundraising outcome whilst ensuring that 100% of funds raised by the
WAOC are passed on to the AOC for the benefit of the Australian Olympic Team.
The operation of the WAOC relies on a successful relationship with the ACGAWA, and operationally we are
fortunate to have experienced and capable volunteer Board members, shared aspirations, activities and
programs. The joint office arrangement continues to benefit the way we operate and provide significant
synergies for both organisations, including the joint office venue and central business location, joint staffing
arrangement, capable and professional personnel, excellent office and meeting facilities, and potentially
storage facilities for memorabilia and heritage items, including our irreplaceable Betty Cuthbert Perry Lakes
Stadium memorabilia piece .
We are indebted to the DSR for maintaining their commitment to the joint office and for their promotion and
support of the regional Champions 2 Country Tour promoting Olympic and Commonwealth Games values in
regional WA.
Whilst the financial statements will be reported by our Executive Officer in her report, I am pleased to advise
that we were able to operate with a small surplus for the 2015 calendar year.
Membership and Relationships
During 2015, the WAOC initiated a program of Sundowners
Executive and Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA members the opportunity to further build and
strengthen the relationships between themselves, State Sporting Associations, athletes, the WA sporting
community, industry and business. We believe this initiative has been successful and it will be pursued on a
regular basis in the foreseeable future, so I urge you as member sports to take advantage of the opportunities
when offered.
We are also keen to further engage with you as member sports and have you more directly involved in
achieving our fundraising target as the funding so raised directly benefits your athletes participation in
the Olympic arena. If as member sports you elect to conduct fundraising towards the participation of your
sports team members, we would welcome your donation as a contribution to the team appeal and
appropriately acknowledge and promote your contribution.
We will continue to foster the relationship with our Alumni in the Olympians Club and have this year
extended the opportunity for them as Olympians to host our gold tables at The Premier s Olympic Dinner.
Not only as a gesture and opportunity of recognition for them, but a unique opportunity and honour no
doubt for those around the tables.

10
VenuesWest is a new and valuable WAOC partner through the provision of our office facilities and we look
to strengthen our relationship with the WA Museum. We are keen to ensure the appropriate recognition and
display for our sporting heritage in the proposed new WA Sports Museum where we anticipate our Betty
Cuthbert piece will take pride of place.
Conclusion and Acknowledgements
I would like to extend my appreciation to a number of people and organisations, not the least my Joint
Executive members and in particular WAOC Executive members, the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA
and Chair Hon. Richard Court AC, and the WAOC Alumni, especially the Olympians Club of WA. We are
extremely appreciative of the time and commitment of our volunteer businessmen and women who comprise
the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA.
I have acknowledged the contribution of Seven West Media for its 10 year office hosting arrangements at
TVW Channel 7 Perth in Tuart Hill, and again wish to acknowledge the support of the State Government
through DSR, and the positive relationship with their staff.
The Carbine Club has been a committed advocate for the WAOC for a number of years and we are thankful
for their annual contribution via the annual Carbine Club Olympic Luncheon. The relationship with the West
Coast Eagles Football Club towards our fundraising is to be especially commended and we look forward to
continuing both of those long standing relationships.
I would also like to thank a number of other people who were instrumental to our successful operations in
2015 including past Vice-President Gratton Wilson in transitioning the financial reporting processes with new
Executive Officer Lisa Lilleyman, and also Steph Clements who coordinated the successful Champions to the
Regions program.
I have expressed that we enjoy a close relationship with the AOC and in particular, aside from acknowledging
the support of John Coates in the transition of the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA and staffing, I wish
to acknowledge the positive and direct working relationship we have with James Edwards as AOC Director,
National Fundraising and Community Programs. His foresight and counsel has been much valued as we
progress our fundraising initiatives in a climate of economic uncertainty.
Lisa, Liane and I all attended the 2015 AOC AGM and Lisa was extended the opportunity of an induction with
the AOC Sydney office staff and familiarization with the AOC administration and financial systems. Liane
attended the Olympians Cub of Australia AGM. Whilst there has been a significant changeover of AOC staff
in recent years, we are always received warmly.
In conclusion, the WAOC and the joint office have undergone significant change during 2015, and it has been
through the work of the respective Presidents, the support of the Joint Executive members, the incumbent
and immediate past Chairs of the Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA, and the professionalism and
commitment of new Executive Officer Lisa Lilleyman that we have successfully transitioned these changes
whilst maintaining the activity and enthusiasm in the organisation and continuation of our core fundraising
initiatives.
I thank and congratulate them one and all and commend this report to you for endorsement.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER REPORT
I am honored to represent the Western Australian Olympic Council (WAOC) as Executive Officer and deliver
to our members my first Executive Officer Report. Commencing employment in May 2015, the following 7
months presented many opportunities and challenges as a concerted effort was made to re-engage with our
r the benefit of our 2016
Australian Olympic Team.
I would like to thank The President, Mr Greg Kaeding and the Executive of the WAOC for their support and
guidance throughout 2015. On behalf of the WA Olympic Council, I would also like to formally thank Steve
Lawrence and all the staff at the WA Institute of Sport for providing such a welcoming and supportive
environment throughout our move to our new Office space in the WA Institute of Sport, it is very much
appreciated.
The Department of Sport and Recreation continue to provide pivotal operational funding support and I
recognise the valuable of their contribution and support they have given once again in 2015.
The anticipation and excitement continues to build as we approach the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in
Rio de Janeiro from 5 21 August. One of the fundamental roles of the WAOC is to manage the Olympic
Team Appeal Fundraising. In 2015 we were delighted the Hon. Richard Court AC accepted the invitation to
Chair the Australian Olympic Team Appeal Committee who are responsible for raising the funds. Under
achieving their target and more detail can be found in the Team Appeal report in the following pages.
Another key deliverable of the WAOC is to promote Olympism throughout WA and this has been achieved
through a number of different activities in 2015 outlined in the Operational Report. Relationships continue
to be a key driver in all the activities delivered by the Council and I am confident the relationships with Alumni,
Athletes and our key stakeholders will continue to grow stronger.
The financial position of the WAOC remains solid with close scrutiny being continually placed on expenditure
and ensuring we maximise the efficiency of our spending to gain the most beneficial outcome for the Council
while being mindful of our Strategic Objectives.
Sound Governance principles underpins all our activities resulting in a transparent, responsible and sustainable
incorporated association. A review of the WAOC Constitution was conducted during 2015 and key changes
to be proposed at the 2016 AGM will be the recognition of our Indigenous Australians and ensure gender
equity in all our practices.
For an Athlete to reach the pinnacle of their sporting career, and compete on the world stage, it takes years
wonderful village the Olympic family is. From Junior and Senior coaches
within the State Sporting Associations through to State/National Sporting Institutes and ultimately National
and Olympic Coaches. Olympic selection and competition is achieved through the commitment and
dedication made by an athlete, the immeasurable support of c family and friends and
together with the fundraising from the WAOC, our Western Australian Athletes can live their Dream in 2016.
I am looking forward to the Olympic year ahead helping Athletes realise their dream.
LISA LILLEYMAN
Executive Officer

OPERATIONS
Executive Committee
The WAOC has undergone a complete re-structure in 2015. The position of Executive Officer remained
vacant at the beginning of the year and Melissa Magini was employed on a casual basis to deliver the 2015
AGM and provide administration support. Gratton Wilson, President of the ACGAWA and Vice President of
the WAOC, was instrumental in securing the lease of new office space inside the WAIS facility. The WAOC
would like to acknowledge and thank Gratton for the extraordinary amount of time and effort he put in to
ensure the WAOC remained operational throughout the period without an employed Executive Officer.
The WAOC Executive also saw a changing of the guard in 2015. We farewelled long serving Vice President
of the WAOC, Gratton Wilson. Gratton has been a valuable member of the Executive providing his financial
expertise and extensive experience in sport management enabled the WAOC to continue to grow over his
many years of service.
In April 2015, Sam Castiglione joined Allana Slater as joint Vice Presidents of the Council and Danielle
Woodhouse OAM joined the Executive Team. In July Richard Elkington was welcomed onto the WAOC
Executive Team. During the 2015 financial year four meetings of the WAOC Executive were held. A full list
of the WAOC Executive can be found on page 43 of this report.
Secure storage of our Olympic and Commonwealth memorabilia has been generously provided by WAOC
Executive member Richard Elkington. We thank Richard for his assistance with the move and for providing
the secure facility for our precious memorabilia.
Staff
The WAOC operates under a joint office agreement with the Australian Commonwealth Games Association
WA Division. In May, Lisa Lilleyman was appointed to the position of Executive Officer and by the end of
May the WAOC had moved into its new office inside the WAIS facility. Transitioning to a new office with
new staff has not been without its challenges, however, the move has proved a highly beneficial one where
access to Athletes and Coaches has ensured relationship building and support to athletes is of prime
importance. Relationship building remains one of primary driving forces inside the office as without the
support of the Olympian Club of WA, Olympians and Athletes and our members and key stakeholders the
WAOC would not be able to deliver many of our programs and achieve our strategic objectives.
Membership
The WAOC represents a total of 27 Constituent members, 7 Recgonised Sport members and 2 Associate
members. Regular communication has been provided to our members and we look forward to further
developing the important relationships with the towards Rio 2016.
Activities
The WAOC strategic objectives underpinned all our activities and in 2015.
On the 3 July the Carbine Club Olympic Luncheon was held to support our Olympic Team Appeal.
Various items were offered up for auction where proceeds go towards supporting the Olympic
Team Appeal. We recognise and appreciate the annual support provided by the Carbine Club and
their members for the benefit of the Australian Olympic Team.
13
5 August to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games with
celebratory activities taking place across the nation. The Australian Olympic Committee re-brand
was also launched and has been widely well received. The new brand is described as being vibrant,
bold and contemporary with iconic history and uniquely Australian as can be seen below.
The Historic Hale House was the location of the Olympic Team Appeal Launch on 7 August
estone. More detail on this occasion can be found in the
Fundraising section of this report.
State Sporting Association (SSA) Sundowners form part of our re-engagement strategy. Our first
Sundowner was held on 13 August at WAIS and we look forward to hosting regular future
activities with our SSA Members took a tour of the $33 million high performance centre thanks
to Steve Lawrence, WAIS Executive Director.
Throughout the year our Olympians and athletes are given the opportunity to attend or present
at various events in and around Perth. The appearances benefit the athletes by providing
networking opportunities which can have a great impact on their life after sport. By attending
events and presentations the athletes are also increasing their personal profile which may benefit
their future sponsorship or corporate support arrangements. Athletes are given the opportunity
to tell their story and how they got to where they are today, inspiring all audience members
whether they be school children, aspiring Olympians or members of the corporate community.
On the 18 October Olympians Olivia Vivian, Jesse Phillips and Olympic hopeful Nina Kennedy
appeared on Channel 7 in support of Telethon.
20 October our first Olympian Sundowner was held in an effort to re-engage with Olympic
Alumni. More event detail can be found in The Olympians Club of WA report on page 21
26-29 October Champions 2 Country Regional Tour. More detail can be found in the Program
section of this report
On 24 November the Olympic Team Appeal hosted their first fundraising event, the Rio Olympic
Long Table Luncheon. It was a successful initiative and once again more details can be found in
the Fundraising section of this report.
On 17 December the Joint Executive of the WAOC and ACGAWA hosted the Olympic Team
Appeal Committee for a Christmas celebration in recognition and appreciation of their efforts
towards raising funds for the benefit of our Australian Olympic Team.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS AND RELATIONSHIPS
State Sporting Associations
Members are the key to any organisation and our State Sporting Associations (SSA) are an integral part of
our business. The position of Executive Officer was vacant for 9 months and coming in with a clear slate has
allowed the development of various strategies to re-engage with our members. Quarterly newsletters are
now distributed keeping our members up to date with the latest Olympic information. News from the
Australian Olympic Committee forms some of the content ensuring the seamless transition of information
and providing relevant Olympic information at a local level.
Bi-

outcomes for the athletes we both work to support.
Western Australian Institute of Sport
The transition of the WAOC office to WAIS has been
pivotal in the close relationships developed with Athletes
and the WAIS staff in 2015.
We have developed strong individual relationships with
many of our aspiring athletes, their coaches and support
staff giving our athletes a personal introduction to the
Olympic movement and increasing their public profile
through media opportunities, corporate appearances and connection with WA community through our
various initiatives. Through relationships with the WAIS athlete support staff we have been able to re-
instate the Athlete Mentor Program aiming to develop athlete relationships with employers and industry
that may lead to employment in the future and provides personal development opportunities. Further focus
on implementation and engagement is required to raise the profile of this program.
Not only has the move to WAIS been beneficial for relationships, it has also given the WAOC the
opportunity through our lease agreement with WAIS, to access function and meeting rooms to enable the
efficient and professional conduct of our business and the ability to host our members and key stakeholders
at the various meeting and functions throughout the year.
The vast majority of athletes selected to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will have received
support from WAIS and we extend our congratulations and appreciation to them for the important role they
play in developing our Olympians.
VenuesWest
Many of our Athletes train and compete at Venuewest facilities and our office being based inside
WAIS, is a Venueswest facility. The relationship between our two organisations is important and the
WAOC will continue to work with Venueswest in finding ways in which we can support each other in
developing and supporting our athletes and promoting Olympism within the WA Community.
The Western Australian Museum
The Sports Museum previously located at HBF Stadium (formerly Challenge Stadium) has now
completed its journey to the Western Australian Museum Archives where it will be held until the
completion of the new WA Museum in 2020. Following consultation with WA Museum CEO Mr Alec
Coles, the new space allocated within the Museum will suitably recognise and display the extraordinary
achievements of our Western Australian Olympians ensuring their legacy continues.
15
FUNDRAISING
The WA Olympic Council is an affiliate of the Australian Olympic Committee and together with the other
State Olympic Councils, as a collective, we are responsible for raising $8,000,000 towards sending the
Olympic Team to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Western Australian athletes constitute approximately 10% of the Australian Olympic Team, therefore the
WA Olympic Council, through the Australian Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA, have been set a
fundraising target of $800,000. Fundraising monies are generated through a combination of high profile
events along with State Government Grant and private donations and do not include sponsorship, licensing
or marketing programs to support our WA Olympians competing on the world stage at the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Team Appeal Committee WA, a group of Western Australian business leaders, are responsible
for raising the $800,000 for the benefit of our athletes competing at the Olympic Games. In 2015 we were
thrilled to announce the Hon. Richard Court AC accepted the position of Chairman of the Olympic Team
Appeal Committee WA and we are grateful for renewed enthusiasm and drive Richard has bought to the
Committee.
J Barrey Williams, has continued his service to the Olympic Team Appeal Committee through his
seamless transition in
leadership of the Committee.
Hon. Mia Davies MLA, Eamon Sullivan, Hon Colin Barnett MLA, Kitty Chiller, Hon Richard Court AC

Acknowledgements
The WAOC would like to thank the members of the Team Appeal Committee who give up their time
voluntarily. Their commitment to Fundraising for the benefit of our Australian Olympic Team is appreciated
by the Council and the athletes alike.
One of the key components to the success of our fundraising activities is the support from our Olympic
Alumni and aspiring Olympians who embrace the opportunity to be a part of the Olympic Team Appeal
activities and we also thank them for their support. The valuable assistance to the Olympic Team Appeal by
the staff and athletes at Hockey Australia, in particular Shane Tonkin, Simone Fountain and Angele Gray,
continue to ensure our fundraising activities are a success and their support is very much appreciated.
Celebrating One Year to Go
On 7 August, mark Team Appeal Committee hosted a
cocktail party at the Office of The Premier. The WAOC would like to acknowledge the support from the
Western Australian State Government and the Department of Sport and Recreation through their grant of
$266,000 towards the Olympic Team Appeal. The cheque was presented to the Hon Richard Court AC and

Rio Olympic Long Table Luncheon
The highlight of the 2015 fundraising program was the Rio Long Table Luncheon held on 24 November.
We were delighted AOC President Mr John Coates AC accepted the invitation to co-host the Luncheon
together with the Hon Richard Court AC.
The Luncheon was held in the private Boardroom of Mr Kerry Stokes AC and the 14 invited guests enjoyed
this truly unique experience. Guests gained a privileged insight from John Coates AC into the AOC
preparation for Rio and planning towards Tokyo 2020. The support received from John and the AOC was
crucial to the success of the Luncheon and we appreciate their ongoing support.
Support from Perth corporate and private businesses ensured the Luncheon was a great success with
$210,000 raised including Gold Table presales for our signature fundraising eve
Dinner. I would like to acknowledge Rio Tinto, Golden Group, Wesfarmers, Woodside, ABN Group, Seven
West Media, Crown Resorts, Chemist Warehouse, McInerney Ford and Pendulum group for their
contribution to the success of the Luncheon.
Olympians Jesse Phillips, Lauren Mitchell, Kim Mickle and Olympic hopefuls Danielle Ten Vaanholt, Deborah
Tsai and George Ford attended the Luncheon and we appreciate their support.
The signature Olympic fundraising event has traditionally been the Olympic Athlete Farewell Luncheon.
In
Olympic Dinner to be held on 9 July 2016. Planning is well underway for this exclusive Black Tie event being
tout ocial and sporting calendar.
The Prem evening of celebration. Being held only once every four
years The Governor or Western Australia, The Premier, Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission

OLYMPIANS CLUB OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Always an Olympian
Never Pa
The aim of the Olympians Club in WA (OCWA) is to bring together Olympians from all eras and sports in the
spirit of the Olympic Movement. We share a unique bond as Olympians and members of a small and elite
group in the Olympians Club.
The OCWA Executive met on 4 occasions and continues to progress business by email in between meetings.
It has been great to again have WAOC administration support since the appointment of new Executive
Officer Lisa Lilleyman in May and the establishment of the new office at the WAIS high performance
centre. The OCWA continues to enjoy a great relationship with the WAOC and I take this opportunity to
particularly thank Lisa for the administrative support she has provided to the OCWA, and also to Greg
Kaeding, President of the WA Olympic Council.
The Executive remains focused on providing opportunities for social interaction at OCWA activities held in
conjunction with other sporting events, as well as providing alumni support to WAOC activities.
OCWA Water Polo Sundowner
On the 18th April the OCWA held its second Sundowner at the Melville Water Polo Club, in conjunction
with their VIP and sponsors evening. The event was run in conjunction with the National Water Polo
League Matches between Fremantle and the QLD Breakers. The function was a wonderful opportunity
for our WA Olympians to catch up while enjoying a fabulous evening of competition, lovely food and a
beautiful Perth sunset.

Champions 2 Country Promoting Olympic Values in Regional WA
The Wheatbelt Regional Tour was held from the 26-29 October 2015. Main objective of the tour is to
hear from high profile sporting role models to promote participation in sport and provide inspiration on
issues including healthy lifestyle, leadership, team work, respect and the motivation to achieve goals, as well
as share the spirit of community and the Olympic Games experience.
Our Olympians, Jayde Taylor (Hockey 2012), Olivia Vivian (Gymnastics 2008), Georgia Nanscawen (Hockey
2012), Kate Jenner (Hockey 2012) were among a group of 8 athletes visiting 14 Schools, facilitating 9
ng approximately 2,300
people, travelling to the towns of Northam, York, Merredin and Narrogin. Social Media was popular again
with #champions2country.
OCWA Facebook Page
The OCWA Facebook page continues to provide an extra platform to connect alumni that are keen to enjoy
each other's company, stay involved in OCWA events and rekindle the spirit of the Olympics within each and
every Western Australian Olympian.
OCWA Sundowner
On the 20th October Olympians gathered at the new WAIS High Performance Service Centre for the
Olympian Sundowner, a great chance to catch up with old friends. Guests were taken on a private tour of
the $33m high performance centre by Steve Lawrence, WAIS Executive Director and were able to see first-
hand the amazing resources and equipment available to athletes today, the recovery pools and altitude
training facility a highlight. Greg Kaeding, President of the WAOC, and Danielle Woodhouse, OCWA
Executive, provided an update on Rio Olympic preparations and the fundraising events in the pipeline.

OCWA Christmas Luncheon
On 29 November, the annual Christmas lunch was held at Cambridge Bowls Club. The event was attended
by 78 people, 40 of which were Olympians who between them have attended 72 Games (and won 13
Medals - 4 Gold, 5 Silver, 4 Bronze), with representation from every summer games since 1956. It was a
festive occasion, again MC Allana Slater and Jesse Phillips, filled with interviews, an
Olympic quiz, raffle and a delicious buffet Christmas lunch to satisfy appetite.
We conducted our regular Christmas raffle, the proceeds ($785) again being donated to Mission Australi

OCWA AGM
The Christmas lunch was again used to run our annual AGM. I would like to take this opportunity to
recognise the current and outgoing OCWA Executive as follows:
# Resigned March 2014.
The OCWA will continue to look for opportunities to host functions in conjunction with local sporting
events and Olympic milestone anniversaries.
Olympians Club of Australia
In May I again attended the annual meeting of the Presidents of the various State Olympians Clubs, as well
as the AOC AGM as the OCWA delegate. It was a great opportunity to discuss common issues, share ideas
and hear about activities being conducted in other states, as well as being updated about relevant AOC/IOC
activities.
