The goal of the DAIDO METAL GROUP is to apply our expertise in plain bearings to all industries that use such products. In this way, we aim to broaden our global impact, and capture the top share of the market for all types of plain bearings. The company’s current Midterm Business Plan (a six-year endeavor which runs from FY2012 to FY2017) provides the blueprint for business expansion on a global basis. The main objectives of the plan are: 1. To consolidate our position as the leader* in the global market for plain bearings, and the only manufacturer in the world to serve all segments of the bearings market. (*based on company estimates)2. To further increase our market-leading share* of the market for automotive engine bearings ‒ one of the core products in the overall plain bearings industry. (*based on company estimates)3. While enhancing the company’s existing leadership in the market for bearings used in large ship engines, to also pursue the largest share* of the global market for non-automotive engine bearings, including those used in turbo machinery, construction equipment and smaller marine-use diesel engines. (*based on company estimates)4. To build and expand a network covering five regions worldwide, in order to support growth in both domestic and international sales.5. To pursue R&D activities that cultivate our status as the technological leader in plain bearings, and apply these technical skills to address the needs of customers in each region worldwide.6. To establish a solid financial base to support operations.

■ IR-related EventsDAIDO METAL took part in the “Nagoya Stock Exchange’s IR Expo 2014,” as well as the “Nagoya Stock Exchange Stock Investment Summer Seminar.” At these events investors ranging from individual equity investors to institutional investors were provided with detailed information on the company, as well as its current Midterm Business Plan. In the future the company will continue to pursue an active IR program, to engage with, and earn the support of investors and other stakeholders.

■ Publication of “FACT BOOK (2014)”In addition to providing investors with timely and appropriate information on an ongoing basis, DAIDO METAL regularly publishes a “FACT BOOK” (Japanese and English versions) containing updated summaries of the company and its operations, its earnings performance, and key financial indicators for investors both in Japan and overseas.

■ Earnings announcement and explanatory meeting (Nagoya Stock Exchange)After settling accounts for the second quarter of each financial year, and for the full year, DAIDO METAL holds a regularly scheduled explanatory meeting at the press club of the Nagoya Stock Exchange. The President⦆ and individual executive officers are present at the meeting and provide explanations in an effort to provide comprehensive information on the company’s business activities.

Investor Relations (IR) Activities

Corporate Governance Structure

In order to develop a strong and thorough system of corporate governance, the company introduced several principles. First, to clarify responsibility for all activities division managers also serve as executive officers.

Second, outside individuals have been appointed as Board Members in order to strengthen monitoring and supervisory functions. Third, outside auditors have been appointed to ensure the effectiveness of auditing activities. Finally, the company set up a “Management Strategy Council” to help facilitate management decision-making. The corporate governance system is outlined below.

Risk Management

DAIDO METAL has established a Risk Management Committee to consider the many potential risks which may arise in the course of company activities. The process of risk management is intended to create a structure for reducing risk, and it proceeds in cyclical fashion, as follows: Identification of risks (brainstorming) → Risk evaluation → Developing responses to risks → Report results to Risk Management Committee or Board of Directors.

■ Measures to protect and manage data/information

Information Management Division implemented measures to protect against improper leaks or release of information. This included company policies limiting the copying or storage of information on USB memory sticks or other portable memory media.A system was also introduced to temporarily delay all e-mail transmission as a means of preventing the release of information through erroneous transmission of e-mails.These measures have been implemented on a company- wide basis, to help reinforce the IT management structure.

■ BCP Response (Earthquake and Fire Prevention at Each Site Office)

Every year the company conducts earthquake and fire drills. Also during FY2014 fire department officials supervised as employees took part in drills with fire extinguishers and equipment, and practiced CPR and the use of AEDs.Members of the local community were also invited to take part in the events, including the use of fire extinguishers and other equipment, and a “bucket relay." Participants also practiced the safety check procedures used in the event of an earthquake, and steps to be taken to resume operations. These activities will continue to be organized on an ongoing basis to ensure that the company is fully prepared in the event of an earthquake or other disaster.

■ Employee Training ProgramsDAIDO METAL’s Human Resources Planning Division oversees a training system which provides employees with continuous training in the skills and qualities needed at each stage of their employment. The knowhow, technical skills and expertise that the company has amassed over the years is passed on to workers through “Daido Metal College (*1)”, and new training programs are developed over the course of the year. By educating employees at each stage of their career, the company promote effective personnel development throughout the company.

Personnel Training

■ OHSAS18001 CertificationDAIDO METAL has adopted a management philosophy that places great emphasis on people. Accordingly, the company pursues worker safety policies aimed at completely eliminating workplace accidents. The company’s domestic production facilities have been certified as compliant with the global standards set for management systems under OHSAS. The company has continuously complied with these standards since 2003.

■ Efforts to Ensure Accident-Free OperationsDAIDO METAL takes intensive measures to prevent workplace accidents. In FY2014, the company introduced a safety program under the slogan: “Safety Awareness to Eliminate Risk ‒ Rule-based Activity to Prevent Accidents”, which included a comprehensive risk assessment and measures to increase safety awareness.Production supervisors regularly observe work activities on the shop floor, and check that safety procedures are being followed. Any time a potential hazard or problem is identified, workers are expected to immediately consider

the possible causes and take the appropriate steps to ensure a continuously safe working environment. As a result of these measures, the company was able to reduce workplace accidents in FY2014, even beyond the reductions achieved in the previous year.

■ Implementing “Safety Week” at all Domestic Plants (Collecting Slogans, Photos)To further increase safety awareness among workers the company has introduced a “Safety Week” program at all facilities in Japan. During this period workers are asked to submit safety slogans, photos and other contributions that help to raise awareness of safety. Everyone is encouraged to take part, and the company seeks to obtain an average of at least one entry per employee. This helps to keep safety issues firmly in the minds of all workers.

■ Activities to promote traffic safetyDAIDO METAL values its employees highly, and does its utmost to promote their welfare and that of their families, by taking steps to eliminate workplace accidents and to promote awareness of safety issues even outside the workplace. In FY2015 local police officers were invited to provide lectures on traffic safety issues, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents while commuting to work, or during job activities. The company also conducted informational campaigns warning employees not to use mobile devices while walking, due to the danger of "Slip, Trip, Fall."

Safety-related Activities

■ Work-life BalanceDAIDO METAL is taking steps to create a working environment more conducive to workers who have to balance work with the job of raising children. Even when employees are on maternity or child-care leave, they are provided with regular information and support, and when they return to work, both their department chiefs and the Human Resources Manager lend support to ensure a smooth re-integration into the company. This program has succeeded in ensuring that 100% of employees who take child care leave eventually return to work at DAIDO METAL.

Expanding eligibility for reduced work hoursTo help workers balance the demands of their job with those of their private life, the company has expanded the range of eligibility for a “reduced work hours (*2)” program. Parents of young children are now eligible until their child finishes third grade of elementary school. In this way, DAIDO METAL is offering employees greater flexibility in their work schedules.

Extending “relaxation leave”, “anniversary leave” and “no overtime day (every Wednesday)” programsAs DAIDO METAL wants its employees to lead a full and enjoyable life, the structure of paid vacation and other leave is being revised. For example, a special “relaxation leave” program has been introduced for workers to take as they approach their 30th, 40th and 50th birthdays. Workers are able to take days off on their birthday, wedding anniversary, a child’s birthday etc. enabling them to spend quality time with their families. The company has also introduced company-wide “no overtime days” (every Wednesday), and continues to explore new ways of enriching the lives of employees.

Zero Accidents!Stay vigilant anddon’t let knowledge ofdangers lull youinto complacency

(First prize slogan)

Efforts to Address Environment

DAIDO METAL GROUP Environmental Policy

Measures to Control Factory TemperaturesIn the summer, solar radiation causes temperatures inside buildings to rise, and reduces the efficiency of air conditioning systems. In response, the company introduced a variety of measures to reduce this ambient heat, including thermal insulation coatings in the Inuyama Site Office and thermal insulation film at Gifu Factory, thus reducing power use and easing the burden on air conditioning systems.

Fundamental philosophyDaido Metal Group views the global environment as a precious resource for all people to share, and considers protection of the environment to be one of the most important issues facing mankind. The company will focus all of its efforts and technology on preserving the environment.

Code of Conduct

Fundamental policies1) The Daido Metal Group will fulfill its responsibility to preserve the global environment, while observing all relevant laws and regulations.

2) The entire Group will take steps to address environmental issues and strengthen environment management.

3) In all work activities, comprehensive efforts will be made to reduce energy consumption and use of materials, recycle materials, and reduce industrial waste to a minimum.

4) Through the development of products and technologies, the Group will employ its overall technical abilities in an effort to preserve and clean up the environment.

5) The Group will take active steps to inform customers, the local community and other related parties of its efforts to preserve the environment, and promote communication regarding the issue.

6) Through environmental education and informative activities, the Group will seek to boost environmental awareness among all employees, and encourage them to take it upon themselves to participate in environment-related activities.

■ Reducing Power ConsumptionDAIDO METAL is making progress in efforts to reduce power consumption, as a way to address the issue of global warming and to conserve scarce natural resources. The goal in FY2014 was to limit CO2 emissions to less than the amount generated in FY2013.

However, due to substantial increases in production output as well as a change in methods used to calculate the CO2 conversion rate, total CO2 emissions for the year amounted to 43,018 tonnes, a 6.2% increase over the FY2013 levels. Nevertheless, unit values for CO2, which measures the company’s energy efficiency, show a reduction of 3.9% compared with FY2013, to 609.3 g-CO2/thousand yen.

■ CO2 Reduction at Company Site OfficesStandardization and Mutual Use of Compressors to Cut CO2 EmissionsIn the past, each factory used separate compressors to supply compressed air to each manufacturing line. By unifying the airflow piping used to supply the compressed air, the system was adjusted to supply air to all production lines mutually, allowing some compressors at some factories to be shut down intermittently, thus reducing electric power consumption and CO2 emissions.

DAIDO METAL is aware of the importance of compliance as part of a company’s social responsibility, and does its utmost to promote awareness of and adherence to compliance policies throughout the group. This means

not only observing all relevant rules and regulations, but also showing good faith in all business activities. In FY2014, efforts to ensure compliance included the measures outlined below.

■ Creation of an Outside Compliance HotlineDAIDO METAL took steps to improve the structure of the current system by which employees report or consult concerns about non-compliance. This included the creation of an external reporting hotline, which allows employees to discuss their concerns with an external legal advisor.Furthermore, in order to ensure and improve anonymity female staff are assigned to the reporting hotline make it easier for female employees to report gender-specific concerns.

■ Training on Compliance Training for employees hired mid-careerAs of December 2014, the company introduced a training program to give those employees hired

mid-career the same training on compliance as all newly hired employees. The curriculum for this training includes a full explanation of the company’s Code of Conduct, performance standards and the reporting structure. After receiving this training employees sign a formal pledge confirming that they understand the standards of behavior and compliance that they are expected to follow as members of the DAIDO METAL GROUP, and are aware of the importance of compliance standards.

Training for newly hired employees includes proper use of SNSIn April 2014 the company introduced specific training for all newly hired employees which cover the standards of behavior they must observe on social media sites. As the use of social media increases, employees need to be aware of the potential dangers, and avoid inappropriate behavior when using social media sites.

■ Product Quality PolicyIn order to build a work ethic in which all employees strive to meet product quality goals, the company adopted the following “Quality Control” (QC) slogan for FY2014: “If any problem is identified in any process, take quick action and reform the operation or the work environment to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.” As this slogan implies, every employee is expected to work in cooperation with others to identify shortcomings in the work process, and thus improve product quality. Each DAIDO METAL plant ‒ whether in Japan or overseas ‒ has a product quality planning section which oversees QC activities and promotes QC policies.

■ Providing tours to local elementary school studentsAs a part of DAIDO METAL GROUP’s social contribution activities, the Inuyama Site Office Site offers plant tours to children from local elementary schools. In FY2014, the factory held tours for 150 third graders. The event included a DVD viewing for the students, an actual tour of the factory, and a chance to look at sample products and displays. After the visit, the children wrote essays in which they described their impressions of watching plant workers operate the equipment and manufacture products. Some of the students even expressed their desire to become DAIDO METAL employees when they grow up, which also gave current employees a sense of their role and responsibilities, reflected in the expectations of these youngsters. The company plans to continue offering such factory visits in an effort to convey the purpose and nature of our business to people in the local community.

■ Cleanup operations and traffic patrolsFor more than 20 years, employees at the Inuyama Site Office Site have taken part in local cleanup efforts, and served as traffic patrol supervisors to oversee students and other pedestrians at busy intersections. These activities reflect DAIDO METAL’s interest in maintaining a clean and safe environment and making the local area a better place to live. Similar programs have been introduced at the Gifu Plant, where employees take part in local beautification efforts on the first Sunday of August. After a morning meeting, participants pick up bottles, cans and other litter in the areas around the factory.

Through continuing efforts such as the local beautification campaign and traffic patrols, the company hopes to earn the respect of local citizens and be viewed as a valued member of the local society.

■ Donation activities [PT. DAIDO METAL INDONESIA]PT. DAIDO METAL INDONESIA makes a social contribution to the local community through volunteer (donation) efforts, which help to fund and develop local social services.
