2015 fantasy football draft guide: players to avoid

There are no absolutes when it comes to Fantasy Football. At the end of the day, us fantasy writers are little more than football meteorologists. We look at the data and we give you our best (educated) guess on how things will play out. But, as any of us who have planned a lake day know, sheets of rain can come from nowhere and ruin our picnic. Sometimes, things just go awry. However, there is also a reason fantasy football analysis is a booming business. Fantasy stats have become more detailed, more precise and more predictive. Often, analysts will be happy to tell you who’s the next big thing or who you should target on draft day. Sometimes I think it’s more important to know who to avoid. With that being said, there are a few guys I’m avoiding in my drafts at all cost. These aren’t late round fliers that I’m against; it’s some of you favorite players. I’ll give you a few players I am not going anywhere near. CJ ANDERSON-ADP ROUND 1 When you make a first-round draft pick, you want to be sure that the guy you’re buying is going to produce for you. He needs to be the clear feature back with tons of upside. You can’t just go with your gut. You need cold hard facts to backup your choice. Unfortunately, Anderson just doesn’t cut it for me. Former offensive coordinator Adam Gase described Anderson as being, “a little chubby” last season.

There are no absolutes when it comes to Fantasy Football. At the endof the day, us fantasy writers are little more than football meteorologists. We look at the data and we give you our best (educated) guess on how things will play out. ut, as any of us who have planned a lake day know, sheets of rain can come from nowhere and ruin our picnic. !ometimes, things "ust go awry. #owever, there is also a reason fantasy football analysis is a boomingbusiness. Fantasy stats have become more detailed, more precise and more predictive. $ften, analysts will be happy to tell you who%s the ne&t big thing or who you should target on draft day. !ometimes ' think it%s more important to know who to avoid. With that being said, there are a few guys '%m avoiding in my drafts at all cost. These aren%t late round fliers that '%m against( it%s some of you favorite players. '%ll give you a few players ' am not going anywhere near. CJ ANDERSON-ADP ROUND 1 When you make a first)round draft pick, you want to be sure that the guy you%re buying is going to produce for you. #e needs to be the clear feature back with tons of upside. *ou can%t "ust go with your gut. *ou need cold hard facts to backup your choice. +nfortunately, Anderson "ust doesn%t cut it for me. Former offensive coordinator Adam Gase described Anderson as being, ,a little chubby- last season. #e went on to e&pound on how .uickly Anderson would get winded and how little faith he had in him as an ,all down back-. The /enver roncos% plans for the starting running back have gone awry over the last few years, and there%s no reason this season is anymore)clear cut. 'f nothing else, last season proved that the roncos have a stable of able)bodied workhorses available should any of theirrunning backs fail to live up to standard or go do with an in"ury. 'f '%m taking a running back in 0ound 1, ' want them to be the end)all be)all for their team. ' don%t want there to be a running back 1-A and a running back 1-B.Odell Beckham Jr.-ADP ROUND 1 While most writers seem to have at least a little hesitation in drafting $dell eckham 2r. in 0ound 1, most players are rushing to add him totheir roster. '%m not a player rushing to grab eckham 2r. ' "ust don%t think he can live up to the hype in 3415 fantasy football leagues. ' really ended up with simple reasoning6 ' don%t trust 7li 8anning. A lotof people contribute 8anning9s early season resurrection on eckham, but ' don%t think that%s e&actly the case. ' think that both players had a moment of brilliance and they simply fed off of each other. ' don%t e&pect the same level of consistency from 7li this season, and that%s going to have a direct reflection on eckham 2r.%s numbers. Another strike against eckham 2r. is the return of :ictor ;ruraham was the go)to guy with the Aew $rleans !aints, but with the !eahawks, he%s going to have some stiff competition. When you have a beast like 8arshawn =ynch, you%re going to put the ball in his hands (although that wasn%t the case in the!uper owl). And according to 2immy >raham himself, he is prepared to block more to springboard =ynch into the end raham is going to have to show me the money before ' can take a risk with his hefty price tag. JEREMY HI!!-ADP ROUND2eremy #ill has gone off the board as early as 0ound 1 in some leagues, and ' think that is cra
