Growing the next generation of readers is something MWF takes great pride in. Our Schools’ Program is Australia’s biggest literary festival for students, attracting around 15,000 attendances annually.

Each year, teachers tell us that attending the Schools’ Program leads to an increased discussion of books and reading among their students. We aim to continue this in 2015 through more than 80 events designed to inform, entertain and challenge.

Leading Australian authors, including Jane Caro, Andy Griiths, Amie Kaufman, John Marsden and Alice Pung, with exciting international voices Jack Andraka (USA), Kitty Crowther (Belgium) and Bernard Beckett (NZ), will take part in diverse, informed and energetic events engaging young people in books, writing and ideas.

Each Schools’ Program event creates conversations between young readers and writers through talks, walks, live drawing, poetry and performance. Our workshops will get students writing, illustrating, investigating, thinking, looking and questioning.

Sessions will explore topics as diverse as family, identity, history, royalty, war, football, superheroes and everyone’s favourite multi-storey treehouse!

With so much on oer, there’s something for students of all interests and ages from 7 to 18. Keep an eye out for our professional development events for teachers and librarians too.

I look forward to welcoming your school to the Festival.
