Registration Information

Registration Costs: K-12 Enrichment/Sports: $95/course

Middle School Remedial Credit: $120/course

High School Credit: $170/each session

Take Note: Title I Ticket for Success are by REFERRAL ONLY by the Title I teacher. There is no

registration cost. (See page 11 for information).

“Kindergarten Orientation” class registration is ONLY through McDowell Mountain school

office. (See the course description on page 11 for details).

Supply Fees—some non-credit courses include a Supply Fee. These fees MUST be paid

with the course registration. Supply fees should be paid at the time of registration.

Any students enrolled in EVIT classes for Fall 2015 may apply for free tuition for

High School Credit Courses (EVIT form located on Summer School webpage at

Course changes can be made up to the first day of class.

Refunds for dropping a course will only be honored by the end of first day of class.

NO REFUNDS will be issued after the first day of class.

Refund requests should be submitted in writing with a parent signature or in person

by the deadline day.

NO REFUNDS will be issued for a course dropped due to excessive absences.

K-12 Enrichment/Sports (Non-Credit) Courses—

Course changes can be made up through Wednesday, June 3, 2015

U.S. HISTORY This course is designed to cover the major people, events, and trends that shaped the history of the United States. The 1st semester covers the period from the first settlers to World War I. The second semester co-vers the period from the Roaring 20’s to the present. This course is recommended for EVIT students,Special Education students, students not planning to major in Social Studies in college, or students who need to re-cover lost credit.

Assignments/assessments will be tailored to the students enrolled.

U.S. GOVERNMENT Class# CRE 602 This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and structure of the federal government. Content will include the philosophy of democratic gov-ernment, political parties, civil liberties, and the elec-toral system. This course includes the study of Arizo-na’s governmental system. Recommended for EVIT students or students who need to recover lost U.S. Government credit.

ALGEBRA 1 Course is designed to introduce students to abstract thinking and problem solving. First session includes evaluating algebraic expressions, solving one & two variable equations, solving systems of linear equations, absolute value equations, and exploring statistical data. Second session includes exponential laws, scientific notation, graphing, evaluating & solving quadratic func-tions, using direct & inverse variation, evaluating alge-braic fractions, evaluating polynomial expressions, and determining odds & probability. Recommended for EVIT students or students who need to recover Algebra I credit.

Daily homework is required of all students!

GEOMETRY Course is designed to develop logical thinking skills. Content includes classifying and identifying properties of quadrilaterals & triangles; transforming geometric shapes by reflection; drawing lines of symmetry; deter-mining slope; using Pythagorean theorem; solving right triangles and using trigonometric functions; solving co-ordinate geometry problems; using various area and volume formulas; identifying conic & cylindrical solids, classifying parts; & writing triangle congruence proofs. Recommended for EVIT students or students who need to recover Geometry credit.

Daily homework is required for all students!

CONSUMER MATHEMATICS Course is designed to encompass many of the math skills students will need now and later in life. Focus is on problem solving in everyday life such as paying tax-es, managing a household income, personal banking skills, and preparing for careers. Course will also pre-pare students for the AIMS Math assessment and sharpen skills in Algebra and Geometry. Not available to students with credit in Algebra II or higher. This course does not meet guidelines for college or universi-ty admissions.
