Having recently unveiled a new design concept for their internationallounges, Singapore Airlines refurbished their SilverKris Premium Classand Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. As anassistant to the Project Architect, I created 3D furniture and scenes forrendering, and attended factory visits for quality assurance in furnitureproduction. Also I served as Project Manager at the end of the one-yearwarranty period, primarily to coordinate defects and Day 2 orders andinstallations. The project was completed successfully on time andunder budget.

• Science Museum Expansion Study - Hong Kong, SAR Position Project Architect - Programming (2015)

Scope Area: 10,000m² Cost: Feasibility Study

The Hong Kong Science Museum is the highest use per square metermuseum in the world. To help alleviate the intense use the museumtasked our team (Economic and Architecture) to provide a study topresent to the city of Hong Kong to reinforce the need for the buildingexpansion. Leading the architecture portion of the study I researchedexisting zoning, building, mechanical, environmental, and exhibitconditions and contributed to the feasibility of providing a buildingannex that would expand the existing facilities and create a moresustainable design for the whole building.

· VV Group Headquarters - Xuzhou, ChinaPosition Arch/3D Designer, Planner – Commercial (2015)Scope Shell and Master Plan Cost: Confidential

The VV Group (largest producer of soybeans in China) asked us toprovide an image for their new headquarters (shell) in Xuzhou blendinga Western New Empire aesthetic with Eastern fengshui elements andsensibilities. JTC pioneers cutting-edge industrial infrastructure solutions inSingapore. Due to Singapore's limited land size they tasked our team atAECOM providing several Multi-level Heavy Vehicle Storage facilitiessolutions throughout the city. My primary focus was to develop anautomated storage structure connecting two sites while spanning anarterial road via a bridge. This complex design required innovativethinking and cooperation with an automated storage company. Weprovided a concept that not only demonstrated a way to automate 20ton vehicles for storage and retrieval, but also created an unusuallypleasing multilevel parking structure.

Passenger Terminal Building (PTB)

Ca clan Airport is situated across the strait fromthe famous beach resort of Boracay. Due to theneed for larger airplanes and increased passengercapacity to the resort area, a comprehensivephased design for a completely new airport wasnecessary. All facili es including the PTB andAncillary buildings (such as the Control Tower)required a ght budget and me schedule. Ourteam employed a simple and clean design conceptlending to an open and airy environment thatis environmentally sustainable and connectsthe passengers to the tropical atmosphere. Thefacili es construc on and management followthis approach and provide straight-forwardimplementa on and maintenance that can beachieved within local building standards.

Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) andSupport Facili es

The ATCT Complex design is clean and simple, allowing for minimal visual obstruc on andstreamlined construc on.The adjacent buildings provide support for thetower with administra ve offices andcomfortable res ng space with support areassuch as toilets, showers, locker rooms, sleepingquarters, and kitchen and dining areas. Thesupport facility is of concrete construc on witha 4.5m clearance to allow for ample u lity runsand equipment space. The structure is enclosedwith a white, stucco simulated EIFS panel. Thefinished building is low maintenance with anunclu ered appearance. The ATCT design breaks from a simplerectangular form yet s ll is easily constructed.Covered with tessellated white-finishedconcrete panels, the tower is an observablycurvilinear shape that is ra onalized into flatforms. The air-traffic control cabin, equipmentroom, and sleeping quarters are housed withinthe top 3 levels and the elevator and fire stairsserve all levels.

Ceiling DesignA er comple ng design and documenta on forthe Terminal and GTC our team was called backto design the interior of the Baiyun Interna onalAirport. Con nuing with the sleek aerodynamicforms used on the exterior of the building waveand birdlike forms were incorporated intothe perforated ceiling panel design. With thesemi-transparency of the perfora ons and thesepara on in the panels the illumina on fromthe skylights makes the ceiling glow and gives aprocessional rhythm providing addi onal texturethat fi ts within the minimalis c design.

Retail and Wind Column DesignThe retail areas in the concourses are simple andelegant. The basic forms are rec linear volumesaccented with horizontal recessed lines andwalls that mimic the geometry from the WindColumns. Bright and open, the retail is invi ng andeasily accessible. The wind columns mimic theretail design, with their leaning forms and strongcurves, yet with a more industrial and aeronau caesthe c.

MaterialsJust as the number of surfaces will be reduced, alsothe number of materials will be limited. The mainarchitectural features will include glass curtainwalls and guard rails with stainless steel railings;stainless steel and glass elevators and escalators;painted metal columns and structural components;white or gray granite fl oor pavers; natural anodizedaluminum frames and clear glazing at offi ce blocks;wood accent panels and Neoparium for accentwalls, selected column covers and cket countermanifolds; dry joint porcelain enamel wall panelsfor concession exteriors and cladding for serviceareas. The ceiling is fi nished with a white enameledperforated metal panel that both allows light totransmit from the skylight and also reduces noisewithin the space.
