The Outlook

Glenn’s Corner

So much happens in a churches life in the 4 month span of May to August. Our children and teens start gearing up for a busy summer. May is full of holidays and graduations. Person-ally we start planning and looking forward to some time off from work. All this activity can make for a busy and crazy summer. As your family is making plans for the summer I encourage you not to forget about God in all your travels. Take time to break bread and remember our Lord. Take time to thank Him for some peace and quiet to enjoy our families and time off. Thank God for the jobs we have and the ability to have the things we own. God has blessed us so much and we have a tendency to get hung up on the things we don’t have rather than all we have been given. The early church put a great emphasis on being together and having all things in common. Hebrews 10:25 says, “Do not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” This does not sound like an option or a come as you please. God commands us to be together and come together to worship Him. He inhabits our praise. He is in the midst of our song. He is the reason we are here every Sunday. I pray you have a great summer and may God bless you in your endeavors this summer. Love in Christ, Glenn _________________________________________________________________________

Blood Drive May 17 12—4:30pm

We are going for 30 units of blood. Come give the gift of life!!

Luke’s Letter to the Flock Well Spring is here and I love this time of the year except for the pollen and junk! But without that we would not have these beautiful flowers and trees! The Yard sale was postponed last month and I know God is going to use that to our advantage! I want to send a special thank you to Haven Smith. She welcomed us into her home for the Easter Sauratown Mountain Hike! We had a solid group of eight hike and a huge group for the cookout! She cooked an amazing spread and we are so very thankful for her loving, caring, and gen-erous heart! If you missed it this year make sure you make it for next year! You won’t regret this event! Some big events are coming up over the next few months! Please check the Welcome Center each week for sign-ups and info on events and things the teens are doing! God has some awesome things planned for the next few months and I don’t want you to miss out because you didn’t not know!

CHILDREN’S Corner from Peter I would like to start with several words of thankfulness. Thank you to all who helped pack easter eggs this year and to the Allen’s who hosted us again for our annual egg hunt. We had a great time celebrating Easter on the farm. We had over 100 folks signed up. Thank you parents for your support by staying for our family meeting. It was good to share with you our upcoming plans and also to hear from you. Thank you to Sherry, Jenny and Lucas for feeding us such a great meal and providing child care. Parents and kids don’t miss out on our upcoming events, “Muffins with Mom,” May 10 and “Donuts with Dad,” June 21. Also VBS season is approaching fast and there are plenty of spots I could use your help to make our VBS a HUGE success. Please check out our list at the welcome center and sign up where you can. Be on the lookout for Super Tuesday events, if you came to our meeting you have the dates of our Super Tuesday’s so put those in your calendars. Camp time is almost here so make sure to sign your children up today. Note; FCC camp scholarship will pay half of the early bird rate for your week.

PARK SPRINGS CHRISTIAN CAMP

Park Springs was purchased in the 70’s by the Christian Church/Churches of Christ and converted into the present day church camp. There have been many renovations over the years and there is an ongoing need for upgrades.

The current projects are: Paint retreat center bathrooms, paint boys bathhouse, landscaping, build equipment shed and other small projects. To help out please contact the camp director, Donald Davis @ 336-793-0130.

Donald Davis joined Park Springs as Camp Director in March of 2014. Donald started coming to Park Springs in 1989 and has always considered Park Springs one of his favorite places on Earth. Donald was a camper up until he graduated from High School, and then continued to serve at Park Springs in the Summers as a counselor. Donald joined the Board of Directors for Park Springs in 2008 after graduating from Appalachian State University. When the position of Camp Director came open, Donald felt The Lord calling him to be the Camp Director. Donald loves being at Park Springs to continue the long running legacy at Park Springs of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
