OBJECTIVES

This symposium will include discussions covering the latest in pulmonary and critical care medicine and directly focus on updates pertaining to asthma, sleep apnea and pulmonary fibrosis. In addition, this conference will target information pertaining to infection prevention in the ICU, pulmonary hypertension, telecritical care, pulmonary embolism response teams, and veno-venous ECMO.

This symposium is intended for physicians in the medical specialties of pulmonary medicine, critical care, infectious disease, thoracic surgeons, internal medicine, and family practice. It will also be of interest to respiratory care practitioners, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other allied health care professionals interested in pulmonary medicine and critical care.

At the end of the conference, the learner should be able to...

Define contemporary classification and treatment for pulmonary fibrosis.

Apply recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of obstructivesleep apnea.

Provide up-to-date and contemporary information on prevention, diagnosis, and management of ICU related infections.

Identify WHO classification of pulmonary hypertension and management of cardiac related pulmonary hypertension.

Evaluate best utilization and application of scarce critical care resources.
