Welcome back to all staff and
students. Hope you all had a
great holiday and are ready to
start the term!
It is the beginning of Term 3
(mid-year) and time doesn’t
stand still. This Term we are
concentrating heavily on the
academics of our students. We
have limited the extra – curric-
ular activities to ensure that
students spend most of their
time inside the classroom to learn. Academic results
achieved by the majority of our students (last term) were
great and that reflected their commitment to their learning.
Parent involvement also increased and most parents
collected their children’s reports during the Parent
Interview Night in week 10 (end of last term). We
encourage our parents / caregivers to be heavily involved
in their children’s education and to build well established
relationships with teachers to ensure that their children
reach their true potential. I invite all parents to contact the
school if they have queries at all. We are here to serve you
and to ensure that your children are catered for holistically
(body, soul and mind).
We are also running a music curriculum on Wednesday’s
starting this term. Piano/ Keyboard and singing lessons will
be offered to students interested and we are very excited
about this new program. This will be taught by Sara
Veerhuis and we welcome her to our Crossways staff.

Possible Crossways Bus Service...
At Crossways we are
currently in the process of
organising a School Bus Pick
Up and Drop Off in the
Ceduna / Thevenard area.
This will depend upon how
many families wish to use this
service. Please contact the
school as soon as possible on
86252873 and put your details
on our list if you wish to use
this service.
Thankyou
This term you will see a lot of renovations happening at
our school. Landscaping will be done in the front of the
school, sport facilities will be upgraded (resurfacing of the
netball / basketball / tennis courts) and the admin block
has been refreshed as well (painted and new floor cover-
ing etc.). All these developments are very exciting and it
symbolises the new era at Crossways Lutheran School. As
soon as the renovations are complete, we will organise an
open day to showcase our new facilities.
Lots of exciting developments are happening and we
would like everyone to join us on this journey.
God Bless

Welcome back to Term 3. Hopefully you have all had a
great holiday and you are well rested for a huge term's
work effort. Staff have used their holidays to take a
breather and to research and prepare an engaging
learning program for their students.
Expectations as with all other terms emphasise that
children attempt all work and that they confidently
attempt all work asking questions to assist with
understanding as appropriate.
Upcoming events include Mr. Puccio's class camp to
Errappa. We also welcome on board two new staff mem-
bers, Mrs. Emily Palmer and Ms Hazel Kim, as well as Mrs.
Sara Veerhuis who will teach music as an elective subject.
Term 3 is shaping up to be an exciting one, and you are all
welcome to come on the learning journey with us.

…………………………………………….. Food for thought!
There are 3 points, I would like to suggest, that will
help make all our students better learners:
1 - Getting enough sleep
It is recommended that middle school
students should be getting around 8-9 hours of
sleep each night and about 10 hours for the
younger students. Are your children getting
enough sleep?
2 - A Good Routine
Getting up and going to bed at the same time each
day, scheduling in time for homework & getting to
school on time. Are your children in a good rou-
tine?
3 - A Healthy and Balanced Diet
Starting with a nutritious breakfast and including
fruit and vegetables each day. Our school has a
free breakfast club which starts at 8 am every
school day! Please make use of this if you're find-
ing it difficult to get your children to eat break-
fast! Please keep in mind that pies pasties and
sausage rolls are only permitted on Fridays No soft
drinks are allowed at all

About Miss Kim :
Miss Kim completed her education
degree in Adelaide last year and
moved to Ceduna with her husband
in April this year. She is very much looking forward
to starting a new chapter of her life in Ceduna and
at Crossways. I enjoy the fishing and the beautiful
beaches in Ceduna as well as the friendly community,
my neighbors and the church. My hobbies include
playing the piano, listening to music, handicrafts and
reading.
HOMEWORK CLUB !
Reminder to all families that
Homework Club begins again
on Wednesday Week 2 and
every Wednesday after for
this term from
3.30pm until 4.30pm.
Hello my name is Emily Palmer. I offi-
cially started working at Crossways this
term after completing my studies here
over the past 18 months. I am teaching
years 8-10 History and 8/9 English on a
Monday. I arrived here in Ceduna with
my husband and two daughters in Feb-
ruary last year and am enjoying the close community
feel and beautiful beaches! Before this we lived in
Whyalla for two years after having grown up in Ade-
laide where I taught English language to adult mi-
grants, refugees and overseas students. I enjoyed this
work but after having my own children I decided to
retrain in teaching middle and secondary school.
I enjoy outdoor activities with family, a good book,
playing the piano and shopping.
I look forward to teaching your children this term
and getting to know parents and carers better!
God bless, Emily.

…………………………………………….. The Alpha Course
At Crossways
Lutheran School
This is a seven week course that
looks at the central message and basic teachings
of who Jesus is, what the Bible is about, and how
all this relates to our life today.
It's an opportunity to come along and explore the
meaning of life and the teachings of the Christian
faith, in a friendly, open, and informal environment.
You will be able to do this during a meal and in a
small group setting, where people can be free to
ask questions and share comments or insights with
people from all walks of life.
The course will begin Wednesday 5 August
at 7.00pm in the Middle School and run for
seven weeks.
Please contact Pastor Allan 045 655 2010
