HUFS GS TESOL

History

2008 Hufs is permitted to open an MA TESOL program with two

majors (ELT and ELT CD) of 30 students.

2009 Graduate School of TESOL officially opens with 30 students.

2011 Entrance quota grows from 30 to 45 students.

2016 Entrance quota grows from 45 to 60 students.

Welcome to Graduate School of TESOL

Our Graduate School of TESOL was launched in 2009 under the motto “The

Future of English Education: Teacher is the Only Hope!”. As this motto indicates,

our TESOL program concentrates on enhancing the professional teaching skills

of our teachers working in various fields. Our goal is to integrate SLA theories into

a variety of practical, hands-on experiences that help language teachers devise

and develop effective teaching techniques, and create various educational content and resources.

Ultimately our final goal is to help our students improve their teaching professionalism in order to

become leading teachers in the field of TESOL.

Step by step, the Graduate School of TESOL at HUFS has become a highly reputable program due

to its focuses on the theory and pedagogical implications of second language learning and teaching

as well as on research. Our trained faculty are fully committed to helping our students learn and

apply a variety of language learning principles in appropriate ways to meet their individual needs

and teaching situations.

I am also proud that since last year we have offered a “dual degree” program with Temple

University(Philadelphia, USA) in which students can earn two Masters degrees at the same time in 5

semesters (two semesters at Temple University and three semester at HUFS). This is one of the best

systems for obtaining two degrees in Korea.

We will continuously strive to provide our students with excellent educational programs to help you

develop and demonstrate your understanding and prowess in English education. I am very confident

that our combination of theoretical and pedagogical teachings as well as educational technology

expertise will propel your career in new and more promising future directions. Thank you!
