From hockey to rodeos Abbotsford is always playing host to a wide variety of events. The Abbotsford Centre is conveniently situated off Highway 1 and accommodates sporting events such as basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and is host to many great shows such as Reba McEntire, Celtic Thunder, and Sesame Street Live. Every August the skies over Abbotsford play host to The Abbotsford International Airshow a showcase of aircraft both on the ground for static display as well as in the air for a wide variety of tricks and manoeuvres. This high-flying show started in 1962 as an effective way to promote the Abbotsford Airport. The first year saw 15,000 visitors and it continues to grow annually.
