ABOUT the meeting of the General Synod of the Anglican

Church of Canada

The General Synod is the highest governing body of the church comprised of bishops, clergy, lay

people, and youth elected to represent their diocese. Once every three years, we come together in

a governing convention to set the direction of the church for the next three years and to elect the

Council of General Synod to oversee the business of the church in the intervening three years.

The people who form the General Synod are the leaders and decision makers in their parishes and

dioceses. There are nearly 2 million members in over 1,700 parishes across Canada. The church is

culturally diverse and offers services in many languages including Inuktitut, French, Spanish, and

Cree.

In July 2016, our 41st General Synod will be attended by over 400 delegates, guests from the church

in Cuba, Jerusalem, and the United States, visitors, and displayers.

VISIONARY - LEVEL SPONSOR

$20,000

This is an exclusive sponsorship opportunity for the entire event. Funds will contribute to the cost of the General Synod. Your generosity as the lead sponsor will be recognized as “The 2016 General Synod Visionary Sponsor [company name and logo]” and further communicated to all on-site and off-site participants through:

Displaying your name and logo on the banner of the General Synod website (before, during, and after the event) with a link to your company’s website.

A double-width display space (16’ X 8’) in a prime location in the display area for your materials and to engage participants.

A two minute video interview, with your company representative included in the “Synod on Demand” webcast. The interview will remain on the website post-convention for a period of six months and will be viewed by thousands around the globe. The “Synod on Demand” webcast typically attracts a cumulative audience of up to 30,000 viewers.

Acknowledgment and thanks by Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada from the podium at both the opening and closing plenary sessions. This acknowledgement will be seen and heard by all meeting participants and will be streamed worldwide through our web coverage.

Opening Reception - $10,000

General Synod opens with worship and is followed by a reception hosted by the Diocese of Toronto. All members of General Synod, interfaith and ecumenical leaders, and dignitaries in the greater Toronto area will be in attendance.

Closing Banquet (Two opportunities - one assigned) - $10,000

The culminating event of the 2016 General Synod is the closing banquet dinner, complete with master of ceremonies and entertainment. Presented by the Diocese of Toronto, it is a perfect way for everyone to celebrate and network at the end of a productive week.

There are two sponsorship opportunities to support the dinner.

Your sponsorship of the Closing Banquet (July 12, 2016) will be recognized as “2016 General Synod ~ Closing Banquet hosted by the Diocese of Toronto, sponsored by [company name and logo]”.

Evening Receptions (Two opportunities) - $5,000

Two evening receptions to acknowledge and welcome our international guests from Cuba and Jerusalem and hear about the challenges of ministry in these rapidly changing areas.

The General Synod agenda ends at 9:00 pm with participants looking forward to discussing the day’s agenda, meeting fellow delegates, speaking with guests, and just unwinding after the day’s events.

Translation Services - $5,000

Several delegates at the five-day General Synod are Indigenous Canadians elected to represent their dioceses, and there will be approximately 20 representatives elected by the Anglican Council of Indigenous People to participate. Simultaneous translation will allow those of our Indigenous partners not conversant in English to fully participate in the Synod. As part of making the General Synod accessible, simultaneous translation in Spanish, Oji-Cree, and Inuktitut will be provided.

Your sponsorship will contribute to equipment costs, cost of travel, accommodation, meals, and an honorarium for our translators.

Your sponsorship will be recognized as “Simultaneous Translation provided by [company name and logo]”.

In addition to specific recognition, the translation sponsor will be further acknowledged by:

As our Lanyard Sponsor, your company name and logo will appear on approximately 400 lanyards worn by delegates, guests, staff, displayers, volunteers, and observers for the duration of the General Synod and kept as a memento long afterwards. The five-day General Synod agenda is packed from morning to night and delegates will want to stay alert and refreshed through out with their water! Delegates will be thrilled to have a re-useable mug or bottle to carry from session to session. This is an excellent opportunity to have your company logo on an item that delegates and guests will continue to use long after the General Synod. The water bottles or mugs will be distributed in the delegate bags handed out at registration. Your generosity will also be recognized by:

General Synod delegates will be arriving in Toronto from across the country. As the Transportation Sponsor your generosity will help offset the cost of providing transfers from Pearson Airport, Billy Bishop Airport, and Toronto Union Station to the conference centre in Richmond Hill. Your generosity will be acknowledged through signage on the vehicles, and on our volunteer placards at the airport and train pickup locations. You will also be recognized by:

These ten sponsorship opportunities will help cover the cost of providing refreshments for all General Synod participants. Refreshment kiosks will be located in the display hall. This promises to be a favourite spot for taking a break to chat with old friends and making new ones!

Your company name and logo will appear as “Refreshments this morning/afternoon are brought to you by [company name(s) & logo(s)]” on tent cards set at each of the refreshment tables for one half day.
