Supporting the Community

Susan G. Komen Charlotte’s focus is on breast cancer awareness and education, breast health screenings, diagnostics and treatment support services for uninsured and underinsured women and men in a 13 county service area.

Each year, Komen Charlotte invests 75 percent of net revenue raised in local outreach programs and community health grants and 25 percent in breast cancer research. Since 1997, more than $15 million has been awarded in local community health grants and nearly $5.7 million to research.

Komen Charlotte raises funds through local events such as the annual Susan G. KomenRacefortheCure®heldonthefirstSaturday in October and Laugh for the Cure®. Donations are also received from individual donors, foundations and a variety of community events hosted by corporate partners, small businesses, faith communities, schools and volunteer organizations.
