The available advanced Blind Spot Monitor18 in the RC not only alerts you when it detects vehicles approaching from behind, but it is also capable of doing so for vehicles approaching at greater distances. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert19 can help provide peace of mind when backing out of a parking space by notifying you of vehicles approaching from either side.

PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM

The available Pre-Collision System16 is engineered to detect an imminent frontal collision and, while

retracting the front seatbelts, automatically prepares Brake Assist17 for increased braking

response, and is even designed to automatically begin braking before impact.

BACKUP CAMERA WITH GRIDLINES

When you place the RC into reverse, the view from the backup camera20 is displayed on the multimedia

display in full color with dynamic gridlines to assist you with parking and other maneuvers.

To help you maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control21 uses radar technology to sense the speed of vehicles in front of you. If your RC gets too close to the vehicle ahead, the throttle is automatically reduced and the brakes are applied. As soon as the road ahead clears, the RC returns to its preset speed.

OF COLOR One unexpected moment of inspiration, years of development and zero shortcuts. This is the art of creating art. The culmination of a

passion for design and industry-leading knowledge, every Lexus color features stories and processes as unique as their hues. Take the Eminent White Pearl. Brilliant in the sun and muted in the shade, it was inspired by and created specifically to mimic the color and

appearance of snow on the hills of Hokkaido, Japan. It’s an effect not left to chance, which is why Lexus sources pigment from a company in Osaka—one that’s been perfecting its craft for 98 years and counting. It’s also why every Lexus painting facility features indoor

waterfalls to trap and wash airborne dust particles away so they don’t inconspicuously mar the vehicle’s finish. Even science plays a role. Lexus created a technique that more uniformly aligns the angles of the reflective particles in paint to better accentuate the vehicle lines.

Then mapped the motions of arguably the most gifted automotive painter in the world in order to have robots duplicate his craft on every Lexus vehicle. Because the only thing more important than creating a stunning work of art is making sure each is as stunning as the last.

You should also look around outside your vehicle and use your mirrors to confirm rearward clearance. Cold weather may limit effectiveness and view may become cloudy. 21. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. See Owner’s Manual for details. 22. High-friction brakes require periodic inspection and measurement as outlined in the Warranty and Services Guide. The pads and rotors are expected to experience greater wear than conventional brakes. Pad life may be less than 20,000 miles, and brake rotor life may be less than 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. F SPORT models may feature Brembo® brakes. It is an inherent characteristic of materials and design of brake pads used in this high-performance brake system that brake noise/squeal may result. 23. 2016 EPA-estimated ratings. Actual mileage will vary. 24. The SmartAccess system may interfere with some pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators. If you have one of these medical devices, please talk to your doctor to see if you should deactivate this system. 25. The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or bring a SmartAccess fob into the vehicle, the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key/fob matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key/fob, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or fob, your Lexus dealer can help. Alternatively, you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high-security key services by consulting your local Yellow Pages or by contacting www.aloa.org. 26. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VDIM will be effective in preventing a loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for further details. 27. All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See Owner’s Manual for further information/warnings. 28. Do not rely exclusively on the Intuitive Parking Assist system. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm clearance.
