If you are looking for a new activity why not try Line dancing? It is a low impact exercise, it lowers blood pressure, increases mobility, and helps with balance, eases depression and muscles and bone mass are improved. According to Line dancing instructor Lorrae who runs classes in Bundaberg and Childers, “dancing gives you a great mind/body workout, is energising and social, and it can burn 200-375 calories an hour, depending on tempo and intensity”. Lorrae says that it is a great way to get in shape, meet new people and have fun. With line dancing you don’t need a partner so it’s suitable for everyone and all ages. A range of upbeat and all types of music are played, including: pop, classic, indy, rock and roll, jazz to name a few. To find out more contact Lorrae 0413515248.

ANNUAL CHILDERS CRAFT BAZAA

BEACH VOLLEYBALL BUNDABERG

ASC - Club Health Check

:

With Beach Volleyball being an Olympic sport and the recent exciting announcement that it will be included in the Commonwealth Games the sport is growing in popularity. However, for a while now junior beach volleyball has been nonexistent in the Wide Bay region. The good news is this is changing. Welcome to Beach Volleyball Bundaberg! Starting out as a group of enthusiastic people playing on Bundaberg’s beaches and permanent Innes Park court for the love of it, the group have now joined with the Bundaberg District Volleyball Association and are ready to expand into the community.

In term two Beach Volleyball Bundaberg are offering a Junior Development program targeted to high school aged youth. Meeting every Sunday from 3pm-5pm the program will be covering every aspect of the internationally played game leading up to the athletes competing in their first tournament. Head Coach Pete Luttrell, with 20 years’ experience playing on the beach, will pass on his knowledge of the game in an easy and fun learning environment. For more information contact Pete on 0439 163 588 or email [email protected]

The Bundaberg Regional Council Sport & Recreation Team encourage our regional sports clubs to attend free training when available and access online resources that enable local clubs to continuously improve their operations.

The Club Health Check is an online self-assessment tool provided through the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). The tool is aimed at helping clubs examine how they are operating. The checklist looks at a number of different factors that are crucial to success at club level and together these factors are used to build an overall picture of the way a club carries out its operations.

The website states that “the assessment should take no more than 30 minutes to complete”. Once all questions have been answered, a detailed report will be emailed to the club email address that was entered online which will identify improvements and growth areas for the club/ organisation. The website recommends that the assessment be completed together by 2 / 3 people from the club committee - preferably “key” people who have an overall perspective of the operations and activities of the club. This is an excellent resource for community sports clubs to access.

Ring Road Run/ Walk - Bundaberg In addition to another successful partnership with Move it, the Ring Road Run is once again partnering with The Rotary Club of Bundaberg West to host their annual Ring Road Run event in Bundaberg on Sunday 5 June. Register for the Ring Road Run online and attend the Move it Expo to pick up your registration bag. The Ring Road Run offers options for people of all ages to be active with a choice of 2, 5 or 10km walk / run or the 10km wheelchair event. Participants are also encouraged to submit team registrations.

The main thing is to get involved, have fun and at the same time contribute towards some amazing local charities in Bundaberg.

Find out more including how to register at: http://www.ringroadrun.com.au/
