Cities are required to pay for the adjudication of misdemeanor crimes committed by adults within the city limits. RCW 39.34.180
• Municipal Court fulfills this statutory mandate. Spokane Municipal Court was formed under
the provisions of RCW 3.50, by a Council ordinance.
Court was added to the City Charter on August 18, 2015, after 72.88% of the ballots cast approved.
