Leveraging NREL Resources to Achieve Energy Efficiency Goals Within Colorado’s Federal Research Labs
Concept: Executive Order 13693 – “Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade” – sets firm goals for federal
agencies to achieve various energy efficiency goals by 2015. CO-LABS will facilitate workshops bringing facility managers
and key staff from federal research labs within Colorado together with researchers from the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory to discern the relevant stakeholders, their agency’s goals and share best practices with NREL as the lead
agency for ideas, examples and relevant resources. This collaborative effort among Colorado’s labs becomes an ongoing source of inspiring and relevant success regarding taxpayer-funded institutions making progress in energy efficiency.
Presentation:
1. Initial Outreach
2. Workshop Agendas
3. Relevant Resources
4. Structured Follow-up Protocol
5. Communication Strategy 6. Tracking and Reporting
Notes for consideration:
Each agency creates goals in addition to the Executive Order
All agencies have to submit a strategic performance plan to the White House Council on Environmental Quality
Spotlighting NREL’s facilities and actions as leading innovation is an underlying goal of Energy Execs
Sharing best practices and connecting the labs with each other for collective progress is CO-LABS’ goal
