FlexiPass If you need one day, one week or all summer, FlexiPass is the answer to parents’ worries during the summer. FlexiPass is a full day summer camp running from 9am-4pm, revolving around sports activities and different games. Serving thousands of kids over the years, PSA has worked FlexiPass into a successful sports camp, but has now expanded into something even more. We like to think of Flexi as a giant clubhouse where kids get to meet new friends and form lasting relationships. Flexi is a camp that makes them want to come back day after day instead of staying home and playing video games or watching TV. From board games to arts and crafts, we will offer many options to go along with indoor sports that keep those heart rates pumping! The sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, floor hockey, flag football and much, much more. We also will be bringing back “Fun Friday” every week this summer. This is still the camp you know and love with excellent staff, resources, and facilities, but now improved to make every day different and exciting. FlexiPass is held indoors at the PSA1, PSA McKinney and PSA Murphy locations with lunch and snacks included in the fee. A ratio of no more than 10 campers to one counselor is maintained at all times. FlexiPass kids are grouped according to age level for safety and fun. Camp runs Monday through Friday, June 6th through August 19th, from 9am-4pm each day. Campers must be five years old to be able to attend Flexi Camp. PSA Murphy and PSA
McKinney will be closed July 28th and July 29th. PSA1 will be open on those days.

Sports Camps Basketball Camps We offer 3 types, please see below for the one that fits your child. It is very important to place your child in the camp they can feel comfortable in and have the most success. If you have questions, please feel free to call the Camp Director to discuss.
Basketball Basic Skills Camp-Ages 5 years old through 12 years old This camp is for players who are on B and C level Recreational teams that need to work on their game. These half day camps are led by some of the best school and club coaches in the area. Our structured program is designed to build each player up every day in the most important individual skills which are shooting, rebounding, dribbling, passing, and defensive positioning. In addition to the individual skills, the camp will teach basic team drills that will enable each camper to understand better how he or she can make a difference on their team. Every day we will finish with some sort of game competition that fits the age and skill level. The players will be divided up based on age first, but then we will evaluate if their skill fits that age and if it doesn’t, we will move them to a group where they will have the best chance to have a successful and fun camp. We will provide a snack and reversible jersey which is included in the fee. Campers do not need to bring a ball. Make it a full day with a ½ Day FlexiPass Add On. Please make note on where the camp is held as we will use PSA 1, PSA McKinney and Murphy. Also, we do offer different times during the summer, so please check if it is a morning or afternoon session.

PSA Elite Camp for Entering 4th-6th Graders This camp is for High B, A or Club/Select type players who want to learn advanced concepts and strategies to help prepare them for school tryouts. This camp will be limited to the first 32 players who sign up each session.
Some of the top High School Coaches in the area will be running this camp along with elite club coaches who work in our excellent School Tryout Prep Program (STPP). We have a great success rate working with 7th-10th graders helping them make their teams and now we are bringing this program to our younger athletes so they can get a jump on the competition. This camp will focus on teaching team concepts along with advanced skills so the players will have a better understanding of what it takes to make a school team. The concepts that will be taught will include: fast break drills taught at middle schools, multiple defensive sets that include traps in the half court, full and half court pressure defense, motion offense, zone offense, set plays, set inbound plays and last second winning plays. The campers will spend the first hour doing skills work, the second hour working on team concepts and will finish up with at least a 40 minute scrimmage. These players will be pushed so they can understand what they will encounter when they try out for their school team. This camp is NOT for beginners or kids who really don’t love the game of basketball. We will provide a snack and reversible jersey which is included in the fee. Campers do not need to bring a ball. Make it a full day with a ½ Day FlexiPass Add On.

This camp is for High B, A or Club/Select type players who want to learn advanced concepts and strategies to help prepare them for school tryouts. You show up and we build the team!
Some of the top High School Coaches in the area will be running this camp along with elite club coaches who work in our excellent School Tryout Prep Program (STPP). This camp is a branch of that highly successful program that we will run as an intense 5 day camp, encompassing 15 hours of high level training. We have a great success rate working with 7th-10th graders helping them make their school teams. This camp will focus on teaching skills related to the position your child will be playing in school. On top of that we will also set them up to be prepared to run actual examples of school offenses that they might come in contact with. The concepts that will be taught will include: fast break drills taught at middle and high schools, multiple defensive sets that include traps in the half court, full and half court pressure defense, motion offense, zone offense, set plays, set inbound plays and last second winning plays. The campers will spend the first hour doing skills work, the second hour working on team concepts and will finish up with at least a 40 minute scrimmage.
A new added bonus is we will film one of the scrimmages during the week, and then do a film session the next day so they can see how a coach breaks down a film and reviews with them their play. We will also be able to email you this film to watch with your child. These players will be pushed so they can understand what they will encounter
when they try out for their school team. This camp is NOT for beginners or kids who really don’t love the game of basketball. Space is limited so sign up early. We will provide a snack and reversible jersey which is included in the fee. We will only take 32 players into the camp each week so sign up early. Campers do not need to bring a ball.

PlanoSeniorHighSchoolBasketballCamp The Plano Senior Varsity Coaching Staff will deliver two empowering tools to the camp participants this week. Through
impactful coaching, and in‐depth personal instruction the art and skill of shooting/shot making, combined with game
execution/tactics to enhance basketball IQ, and improve your arsenal of winning ways will be taught to the college
Division 1 level standard. Our goal is to strengthen your individual/personal value first to yourself so you can positively
and successfully become an instant asset to any basketball team. The techniques, mechanics, skill, and mental approach
of successful shooting and shot making is broken down into a step by step process, communicated, taught, then
reinforced with positive feedback, and energetic repetition. Powerful information defining the game from the team
winning perspective will be applied to each individual player based on their own personal make‐up and personality
traits. This camp is for the serious player looking to take their game to the next level! Boys Varsity Coach Dean Christian
and Girls Varsity Coach Rodney Belcher will hold a 3 hour camp at PSA1.

Enrichment Camps
Lego Mindstorm Academy 1 Our entry level robotics course is designed for kids to explore and experience the basics of robotics. Using Lego Mindstorms, students will learn how to construct and program robots to perform simple tasks. We will begin by familiarizing the students with the items that are important to the structure of the robots. Then, we will attach motors and wheels that allow our machine to become mobile. Finally, we will learn how to program our creations to carry out specific functions, such as traveling measured distances and maneuvering. This course lends itself to multiple levels of rigor and can be tailored to fit a wide range of learners. Students work in teams of two or three and gain confidence through hands-on learning. Grades 2nd and up are welcome to join. Add a ½ Day Flexi to make it a full day.

UTDExploringCodingToolsWith an abundance of web-based tools to learn coding, we hope to play with a different tool in every session and get introduced to coding concepts in an enjoyable way. If parents want to get an idea about these tools, visit code.org/learn and madewithcode.com to see a few samples, but please do not prep your children and make the camp a boring experience! Just like Scratch, this camp is for beginners – no programming background is needed to attend this camp.

UTDAnimationsUsingScratchMIT Scratch is a GUI based programming environment. While it has a friendly interface that appeals to young children, it
has tons of functionality! You can do 2D animations of objects, create cool drawings, make a character sing a tune,
develop an interactive game (control it with various inputs including voice!) and even narrate a story with images! Go to
scratch.mit.edu to check out the tool and lots of examples. We will use a specific list of examples shown in
www.utdallas.edu/~jeyv/scratch. Scratch uses drag‐and‐drop programming which means no syntax errors – program is
always ready to run! It enables the young learners to focus on the logic instead. This camp is for beginners – no prior
experience is required.

UTDEnjoyableCodingwithAliceThis workshop is perfect for middle school students who have not done any programming so far. It uses drag and drop
programming, which means there is no room for syntax errors! You can convert your idea to code quickly and see it in
action! You can code 3D animations or games with ease. Alice comes with a powerful graphics library that minimizes
coding effort. Visit www.utdallas.edu/~jeyv/alice to preview the content. Since Alice does require “careful” drop
operations, we do not recommend Elementary students to take Alice directly, we recommend them to do Scratch first.

You have a great idea for mobile app, but do not know how to program in Java/Objective C? No worries. MIT App Inventor enables you to use drag-and-drop mechanism to put your creative ideas to work and make Android apps. It will be helpful to bring an Android phone to test your apps. While drag-and-drop mechanism is easy to get used to, you will come across lots of components that need to come together to make a complex mobile application. We encourage Elementary and middle school students to complete Alice camp first. August 1‐5 PSA1 Ages 11‐13 8:30am‐11:30am $195
UTDCoDroneCodrone is an innovative Arduino based drone kit. It can be used to take your coding skills literally to the sky! While the drones can be exciting, coding them can be overwhelming, so we encourage the campers to complete another coding camp (Scratch, Alice or JavaScript) first before coming to camp. We will start with the simple activity and introduce the complexity and sophistication in steps. Campers will be expected to type a few lines of code for every hands-on activity. If interested, parents can review the lesson plans @ http://community.robolink.com/codrone

3DPrintingExperience-3D
3D modeling & 3D printing are some of the fastest growing STEM fields. From hardware and software engineering to industrial design and manufacturing, these technologies are at the forefront of an emerging trend toward fast prototyping and rapid product development. We will immerse ourselves in the same processes an industrial designer goes through to create a product: Sketching ideas, turn your sketch into a 3D model on the computer, and then bring your idea to life by 3D printing your 3D model. Experience-3D uses professional grade CAD software and hardware to create the competitive edge. Through our experiences we will develop our problem solving skills and spatial reasoning.

PSACAMPPOLICIES PSA is accredited by the state of Texas as a licensed child care facility and must follow strict standards before allowing any child into our camps. Each child needs to be registered in MySam, and have filled out all online forms, specifically the “CAMPER INFORMATION FORM”, before they can attend camp. PSA camps operate June, July and August; Winter Break and Spring Break. Camps are operated at various times between 8:30am-4pm. Before & After Care Opens at 7:30am and Ends at 6pm
Appropriate Clothes for Camps
Please wear appropriate clothing for an active camp day. We require tennis shoes for court play; no flip flops or sandals. If your child does not wear appropriate shoes, we will have to call you to bring some to PSA, as we cannot let them play activities due to the fact they could hurt themselves. Jeans are not something we recommend for play during the camp day.
Check In, Check Out and Late Pick-Up Policies
1. Before Care check in will not start prior to 7:30 am as we have to assure the facility is prepared to receive children.
2. You are expected to pick your child up no later than 6:00 pm from After Care as PSA is a recreational game facility starting at that time.
3. Parents are given a 15 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD to pick up kids from camp. 4. After that, a $1 a minute late fee will be charged, payable to PSA. 5. Camp check in will start no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the stated time in the camp brochure for your child’s
camp. 6. Add-On 1/2 day and Before and After care passes can be purchased to extend your child’s camp day at any time,
so if you find yourself running late feel, free to call PSA and we can help you out. 7. We highly recommend an adult bring the child into PSA for the morning check-in. 8. There will be computer stations set up for all camp check-ins during the summer. 9. If someone other than the child’s parent is responsible for pickup, PSA requires a note from the parent with that
person’s name. 10. PSA will not release a child to an unapproved person. 11. No child will be allowed to walk out of PSA to a waiting car. 12. Supervisors and staff will stop children who are seen walking out without a parent to make sure they are leaving
with one. This is for their safety.
Communication
PSA communicates mostly through email.
In emergency cases we will make phone calls.
Notices are also posted on the Bulletin Board inside the Gym.
Discipline and Guidance Practices Our understanding is that children participating in competitive situations will not always react in the proper way. We look upon ourselves as teachers and mentors to these kids and will work with them to teach them how to better react to certain situations. It is up to the camp director to decide if or when a child should be removed from camp for disciplinary actions. The campers must respect the counselors and other campers at all times. We will deal with indiscretions on a one-on-one basis. Actions that would be deemed removable offenses from camp on a temporary or permanent basis may include:
35
hitting, biting, bullying, wandering away from their group without permission or not listening to counselors or staff on a continual basis.
1. Discipline must be individualized and consistent for each child, appropriate to the child’s level of understanding, and directed toward teaching the child acceptable behavior and self-control.
2. A counselor may only use positive methods of discipline and guidance that encourage self-esteem, self-control, and self-direction, which include at least the following: a. Using praise and encouragement of good behavior instead of focusing only upon unacceptable behavior b. Reminding a child of behavior expectations daily by using clear, positive statements c. Redirecting behavior using positive statements d. Using brief, supervised separation or time out from the group when appropriate for the child’s age and
development, which is limited to no more than one minute per year of the child’s age. e. There must be no harsh, cruel, or unusual treatment of any child.
The following types of discipline and guidance are prohibited: 1. Corporal punishment or threats of corporal punishment 2. Punishment associated with food, naps, or toilet training 3. Pinching, shaking, or biting a child 4. Hitting a child with a hand or instrument 5. Putting anything in or on a child’s mouth 6. Humiliating, ridiculing, rejecting, or yelling at a child 7. Subjecting a child to harsh, abusive, or profane language 8. Placing a child in a locked or dark room, bathroom, or closet with the door closed; and 9. Requiring a child to remain silent or inactive for inappropriately long periods of time for the child’s age.

Electronic Devices We do not recommend or encourage kids to bring electronic devices to camp. With that said, we do understand that many of these children carry cell phones today as a way to communicate with parents when they are not with them. We also realize that these mobile devices also serve as music players and game devices also so they can keep a child’s attention for a long period of time. Realizing this we ask that you talk with your child about keeping their device in a secure bag if they feel they must have it with them. We also will only allow these items out during certain parts of the camp day would include before camp begins, rest period and after camp ends while they wait for a parent or guardian to pick them up. The idea of being at our camp is to get away from the electronic devices and to just be kids playing with other kids. We understand the kids enjoy visiting with others about games they have and it is a social ice breaker, but we require the kids to be responsible for their gaming system. PSA will not assume any liability for lost or damaged items. We do recommend once again bringing some sort of carry bag to place any personal items in and to clearly have their name marked on the item.
Food and Nutrition PSA Provides:
1. A light breakfast is provided to campers registered in the Before Care from 7:30am to 8:30am. 2. Morning snacks are provided for campers in a 8:30am-11:30am ½ day camp. 3. Food allergies and religious eating restrictions will be addressed on an individual basis and will require a signed statement from the parents. There is to be no outside food or drinks brought into PSA. .
Health of the Child PSA would prefer not to dispense medication. In order for PSA to dispense any medication to a child, parents must complete a form before leaving your child for the day. The form must be clear on the dosage and the time the medication is to be dispensed. It is the parent’s responsibility to retrieve the remaining medicine on Friday. All medications left on Friday will be thrown away. If your child is not feeling well, please do not bring them to camp. To protect children from communicable illnesses, campers should be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to camp. These include:
Fever over 100.4 degrees. Campers must be fever free for 24 hours without medication before re-entry.
Undetermined rash and fever
Undiagnosed scaly patches
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Red, draining eyes
Intense itching with signs and symptoms of secondary infection
Open, draining lesions
Lice, nits on shaft of hair, until treatment is verified If a child is injured during the camp day, we will treat to the best of our ability within reason. If it is something that needs more than rest or a Band-Aid, the parent or guardian will be contacted as soon as possible. Please make sure to provide emergency contact numbers on your application. In serious injuries, an ambulance will be called. If a child becomes sick during the camp day, we will make every effort to see if rest can help the situation. If any of the above symptoms are present, we will have to contact the parent or guardian and isolate the child from camp.
Immunization Records The State of Texas requires PSA to have a copy of children’s TB test and immunizations. 744.613. If your child attends school and they have the copies on site, you may sign the waiver on your forms, a) You are up to date b) School Name, address and phone number.
Transportation, Water Activities, Field Trips and Animals PSA does not normally provide transportation, water activities, and field trips or have animals. If the case arises, we will require a signed permission slip from the parent. The parent would have all details before occurrence.
