What do you like best about your current practice?I have enjoyed my entire medical career even going back to medical school and residency. Currently I enjoy a great practice blending some reconstructive procedures with a great deal of cosmetic procedures giving me the opportunity to work in my office as well as at local hospitals and surgery centers.
What advice would you give to someone just entering the profession of medicine?Make your word impeccable, don’t take it personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best. I discoverd these thoughts in a book several years ago and have found them to be very meaningful and, I believe, a good philosophy and approach to life and medicine. Obviously though they aren’t original with me.
Who or what has had the most influence on your professional career?I wanted to be a physician as a child. Exactly why I am not sure, however I have talked with many other physicians who just had the same “I just want to be a doctor” experience as a child. This desire was always supported by my parents, my first positive influencers. My surgical father who molded and shaped me was Dr. George Coors - probably one of the best technical surgeons that I ever operated with. My father passed away when I was younger and Dr. Coors took his place in so many ways.
Tell us about yourself- anything you’d like to share…As many people know I have enjoyed flying airplanes most of my life. They have enabled many experiences of life that I would otherwise have missed. I have also greatly enjoyed my past few years of involvement with the Madison County Medical Society. It is my hope that some of the recent clouds and turbulence for patients and their physicians will become clear skies and smooth air for us in the future. Thanks for the chance to talk for a moment.
The Madison County Medical Society has been organized to serve its mem-bers as an advocate for the physician/patient relationship, and to promote and preserve the highest standards of professional, educational, and moral conduct.

The Madison County Medical Alliance has been busy this year…In October, Dr. Paul Tabereaux of The Heart Center, presented “A Woman’s Heart” to educate our membership on the importance of heart health.
We ended our year with our annual Christmas Coffee that took place at the home of Dr. and Mrs. John Panico. Our membership collected coats and blankets for needy seniors and presented checks to our partners:
The Alliance presented Lindsay Rice, 2012-2013 MCMA President, with our Service Award. This award recognizes fellow members in their efforts to make Madison County a better place. Lindsay hasnot only worked tirelessly here in Madison County, but also at the state and regional level.Congratulations, Lindsay!
In January, MCMA, MCMS, and Pulmonary and Sleep Associates of Huntsville will come together to start walking! We are so proud to be THE first chapter of Walk with a Doc to come to the state
of Alabama. This will be a great opportunity for us to bring a new healthy activity to our community and showcase our physicians. Our Walk with a Doc will take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month, so mark your calendars for the inaugural
walk Saturday, January 9, 2016. We will begin at Fleet Feet, located in the Valley Bend Shopping Center on Carl T. Jones Drive. Please put on your walking shoes, bring your family and join us! Walk as long as you’d like…just come walk!
It is our honor to work together with the MCMS Board of Trustees, staff and members in support of our medical families and partners in Madison County.
The mission of the North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps is to recruit and train medical and non-medical volunteers to supplement existing community organizations in preparing for and responding
to an emergency or disaster and to provide community education in disease awareness and prevention during non-crises times.

GO ONLINE AND SUPPORT THE
NAMRC BY VOLUNTEERING!
The NAMRC is grateful for the ongoing support from the Madison County Medical Alliance. The MCMA generously
awarded the NAMRC with a $2,500 donation. These funds will benefit the health and preparedness outreach
initiatives in 2016.
The NAMRC greatly appreciates the support of the
members of the MCMS. The donations received from December’s Giving Tuesday event and the end-of-year
giving campaign will support the NAMRC’s mission-focused programs in 2016.
The NAMRC cannot operate without the support of its
partners and volunteers. If you’re interested in volunteering, please visit the NAMRC’s website at
www.northalabamamrc.com for a volunteer application or for more information.
