2016 Call for Proposals: WWOOF-USA Small Farm Grant Program Funding is now available to WWOOF-USA hosts for projects that further WWOOF-USA’s mission and involve WWOOFers in project execution and outcome. WWOOF-USA Mission Statement WWOOF-USA is part of a worldwide effort to link visitors with organic farmers, promote an educational exchange, and build a global community conscious of ecological farming practices. The WWOOF-USA Small Farm Grant Program, established in 2013, awards grants to WWOOF-USA hosts for special projects that help to further WWOOF-USA’s mission, enhance the educational experience of WWOOFers on farms, and promote small-scale organic agriculture and land stewardship. The Small Farm Grant Program requires WWOOFer involvement in the execution and outcome of the funded project, and encourages proposals from WWOOF-USA hosts who are in need and are committed to WWOOF-USA and the goals of the Small Farm Grant Program. Project Requirements Projects must further WWOOF-USA’s mission and involve visiting WWOOFers in the execution and outcome. Any WWOOF-USA host may apply that has been a member for at least the last 2 years and was not previously awarded this grant. Awards range from $500-$2000. Proposals will be accepted prior to February 8, 2016. Awards will be announced by April 1, 2016. All funded projects must be completed by March 31, 2017. A written mid-term and final project report will be required. Additionally, the following multimedia projects are required: a printed photobook, a 3-minute video (using any recording equipment such as camera, phone or tablet – WWOOFer help encouraged!) for our upcoming online storytelling platform, and 5 pictures for our new online photo gallery (more detailed instruction will be available upon award of grant). A member of WWOOF-USA may visit your place to see the project development and results. Project applications must follow submission guidelines below to be considered. Submission Guidelines Submit the following information: 1. Title Page (1 page) including your farm name (as it appears in the WWOOF directory), your contact information (name, mailing address, phone, and email), the project title, and the requested grant amount; 2. Project Proposal (2 pages max) describing the project, highlighting the project goals, how the project furthers WWOOF-USA's mission, whom the project will benefit, and how the project will affect positive change; 3. Detailed Budget (1 page) including a timeline; 4. Personal Resume (1 page) that describes qualifications and current farming operation; and 5. Farm Profile (1 page) from the WWOOF directory (can be condensed), including how long you have been a WWOOF-USA host, the total number of WWOOFers you have hosted, any WWOOFer comments that you would like included, and any other information you’d like to include. Applications should be no more than 6 pages total, and sent in as one Word / PDF document, with your farm name in title of the document. One grant application per host please. Submit information electronically by February 8, 2016 to: Sarah Potenza, WWOOF-USA Director, at: [email protected] This is the 4 th cycle of WWOOF’s Small Farm Grant funding and WWOOF-USA is thrilled about the opportunity to support WWOOF-USA host farms. Be creative with your proposals! We are open to hearing about your needs and potential projects. When applying, we encourage you to think about your farm and how it can be improved. Then consider how some planning on your part, some funding from WWOOF-USA, and some WWOOFer participation can make it all happen! The more WWOOFer involvement the better - let’s work together to share skills, and foster community and educational exchanges on farms. We look forward to working with you!
