Dear Runners,The road to Zydeco 2016 – the third annual Zydeco Marathon and

Half – has been a long and winding one. It took over nine months of collaboration with Lafayette city officials, traffic control engi-neers, city police, and other stakeholders to develop and permit the new single loop full marathon route. We also decided to revamp both our start / finish layout and Finish Line Festival by moving these activities to Downtown Lafayette. The timeline for these approvals meant delayed announcements and some uncertainties amongst participants as to what to expect for 2016. Throughout the process, our team has kept our original goal in mind: to provide runners with a fun, safe, and memorable event. We are proud to say that things are falling exactly into place. Here is what participants can look forward to this year:

• Packet pickup and sports expo at the Cajundome Convention Center with an expanded lineup

• Parking and shuttling assistance on race day

• Revised start / finish layout in Downtown Lafayette with few early turns; combined with a wave start this will greatly ease early race congestion

• An exciting new single loop full marathon course that’ll take them through more of Lafayette’s great subdivisions and scenic developments

• A Finish Line Festival lineup including Grammy award-winning artist Chubby Carrier at Lafayette’s famous Parc International

• Our largest lineup of food vendors to date. You will NOT go home hungry!

• An expanded partnership with Coca Cola for non-alcoholic beverages and a new partnership with Crescent Crown for adult beverages

Start Time: 7:00 amAll runners need to be in the start area no later than 6:45 am

Start Location: 530 Jefferson St , Downtown Lafayette

Finish Line: On Jefferson St, Near Start Downtown Lafayette

Finish Line Festival: Located at Parc International , 200 Gar-field St., 9am to 2pm

Packet Pickup will be at the Expo & Parc International themorning of the race from 5:30am to 6:45am.

Timing: This race will use electronic chip timing.Electronic tags will be attached to your race bib.

Photos: Your Sporting Image will be taking photos alongthe race course on race day, and also at the finish line.

Medals & Awards: All finishers will receive a finishers medalas they cross the finish line.OVERALL: Overall top 3 male and female finishersAGE GROUP: Overall top 3 male and female finishers in the follow-ing categories for both male and female

• 19 & Under• 20 - 24• 25 - 29• 30 - 34• 35 - 39• 40 - 44• 45 - 49• 50 - 54• 55 - 59• 60 - 64• 65 - 69• 70 - 74• 75 & Over

MASTERS: First place finisher in the following categories for both male & female• Masters (40+)• Grand Masters (50+)

The overall, age group and masters winners will receive awards to be presented at the finish line festival.

Drop Off Location: Downtown Lafayette at Parc International at the corner of Polk St & Garfield St

Shuttle to begin running at 4:30am and continue running until 6:15am. Shuttle will arrive every 30min. The FINAL shuttle will depart at 6:30am.

The shuttle will begin running again at 10:30am, and begin making trips back to the South College Shopping Center. The shuttle will be making trips every 30 minutes until 2pm.

PACE GROUPS

The Marathon Maniacs & Half Fanatics will be pacing this years race. The following pacers will be at the starting line, look for the sign with your pace on it.

At the starting line, please line up in the corral that closely matches your expected pace. This will alleviate the initial runner congestion at the beginning, and will provide for a smoother start for all runners. Your time will not begin until you cross the starting line.
