About Grahame Robb Associates Established in 1989, Grahame Robb Associates (GRA) specialises in learning and development training programmes which release the potential of individuals, teams and organisations. We firmly believe in enabling organisations to improve performance by investing in their people.

We own and operate two Outdoor Learning Centres, Reading and Burton-upon-Trent, which are purpose-built facilities, designed specifically to support high impact, experiential learning and leadership development. The Reading centre is situated within a 15-acre mature oak woodland and includes one of the largest and most extensive ropes courses in Europe. Our Burton-upon-Trent centre is located at the English Football Association’s St. George’s Park National Football Centre.

Our delivery team are accredited trainers in many of the world’s most recognisable and successful leadership and team development models. We utilise the outdoors to bring theory to life, practice the skills and provide honest, encouraging and constructive feedback so that delegates can immediately apply their learning once they return to the workplace.

ALP Overview 2

Accelerated Leadership Programme

In many organisations, technical competence is considered the most critical component for success. We promote high performers to management roles as it is often seen as the only solution for career progression and justification for rewards such as higher salaries, bonuses and other perks.

In a management position, employees are no longer simply judged on their technical proficiency, they are also evaluated on their ability to coach and mentor; provide and receive constructive feedback; hold difficult conversations; develop budgets; present with confidence to senior members of staff and external stakeholders; and build an effective and high performing team.

By the time most employees reach a position demanding such skills, the expectation is that they will have developed the required leadership qualities through life experience or their “natural” ability in other areas.

The performance and progression of individuals, teams, and sometimes entire organisations, can stagnate because of an inability to lead successfully. Often, leaders with high technical competence, but underdeveloped ‘soft skills’ are dismissed as ineffective leaders and not provided with the resources to develop these skills and apply them.

The GRA Accelerated Leadership Programme is a modular leadership development programme designed to support organisations who wish to accelerate the development and performance of practising middle managers. The programme blends proven theoretical models with opportunities to bring them to life and apply the learning in a practical setting at our Corporate Outdoor Learning

Centre, Reading.

Our approach provides delegates with the freedom to explore and develop their own style and personal brand of leadership and enhance their team’s performance.

Delegates will use globally-recognised learning and development tools to take an introspective assessment of their own strengths and weaknesses and understand areas of personal development. They will also enhance their ability to lead through the quality of their interactions with other members of the team and by flexing their leadership style to specific situations and individuals.

Our practical exercises have been developed over many years and encourage delegates to explore the boundaries of their comfort zone. We will test their ability to think strategically, coach others and lead under pressure, all in a risk-free, structured training environment designed specifically for high impact learning.

Over the course of the three modules, we will enable participants to enhance their skills, practice leading in a range of situations and improve results as well as prepare for senior management responsibilities in the future.

To help sustain development once delegates return to the workplace, they will nominate a colleague to sponsor their progress and receive personalised actions plans from our Course Director, Joe Mackintosh.

The Accelerated Leadership Programme provides managers with a platform to learn more about themselves, improve the quality of their interactions and enhance their leadership capabilities.

12 Client Testimonials

Accelerated Leadership Programme

“It has had such a positive impact on our people with enhanced team performance as a result of better leadership.”Greg Hoggett, Managing Director- TAG Aviation

Farnborough

“After almost a year of unsuccessful searching for a

management training company, my search ended on

one sunny day in April 2013 at Wokefield Park, where I

immediately recognised that GRA were the right fit for

what we needed.

I attended their complimentary Leading Change

event which gave me the chance to gain a first-

hand experience of their ability to blend theory,

skill development and practical application into a

management development programme. Following

the event, I was in no doubt that GRA were the best

training services partner for TAG Aviation Maintenance

Services.

We were soon sat around the table together and as a

result of listening to and understanding the challenges

we faced, the GRA team developed a tailored

modular leadership training programme that suited

the varied skills and experiences of the TAG Aviation

management team; with each individual manager

receiving a personalised action plan following the

course.

From the outset of the leadership programme, GRA’s

team of skilled and experienced trainers were very

professional in their approach and built a great rapport

with all of our managers. The seamless combination

of indoor and outdoor learning kept our team engaged

throughout the programme. I’m delighted that it

has had such a positive impact on our people with

enhanced team performance as a result of better

leadership. It has created real and tangible benefits for

the business.

The GRA team genuinely cared about delivering

results-focused training that benefited our business.”

12

Accelerated Leadership Programme

“We have developed a strong leadership brand and code as a team.”Neil Caldwell, Vice President Europe - Cybersource

“I consulted with GRA to establish a leadership

programme for my regional team. I was new to my role

and, as a group, we had taken little time to align on our

priorities, collaboration and focus but, most importantly,

how that translated to enabling and motivating our staff.

The GRA team did a great job of identifying how

to achieve our objectives in the most effective way

possible and introducing compelling management

strategies to improve our approach and implementation

in an interactive and engaging way.

As a result, we have developed a strong leadership

brand and code as a team and maintained a level

of focus that has catalysed the team’s development

through 2015/16.”
