Welcome!and!thank!you!for!your!interest!in!auditioning!for!this!year’s!drum!line!for!the!Palmyra!Area!marching!band.!!By!obtaining!this!packet,!you!have!taken!the!first!step!to!becoming!part!of!the!drum!line!for!the!2016!season!!! !! Enclosed!you!will!find!the!warmGups!and!cadences!that!we!will!be!using!this!year.!!This!will!also!be!the!material!used!for!your!audition.!!So!whatever!instrument!you!are!interested!in,!come!prepared!to!play!the!warmGups!and!cadences.!!Also,!do!not!be!surprised!if!we!ask!you!to!play!a!different!drum!during!your!audition.!!!!! We!will!also!be!choosing!this!year’s!captain!for!drum!line.!!The!captain!will!be!responsible!for!getting!the!line!ready!and!set!before!practices!and!performances.!!Also,!they!will!be!in!charge!of!running!sectionals!during!the!school!day!if!needed.!If!I!am!pulled!away!from!practice,!the!captain!will!need!to!be!able!to!keep!the!rehearsal!going!until!I!am!able!to!return.!!The!captain!will!be!in!charge!of!making!sure!all!of!the!drums!are!put!away!in!the!appropriate!spots!after!each!practice!and!performance.!!The!captain!should!be!the!first!one!to!arrive!before!practice!and!performances!and!the!last!one!to!leave.!!Other!duties!and!responsibilities!will!be!given!when!and!if!they!arise.!!! The!drum!line!is!a!very!important!part!of!the!marching!band!and!with!that!comes!a!big!commitment!throughout!the!season.!!It!is!very!important!the!every!member!of!the!line!attend!every!practice,!sectional,!and!performance.!!If!one!member!of!the!line!does!not!come!prepared,!or!misses!a!practice!that!is!not!preGapproved,!the!whole!line!will!sit!during!3rd!quarter!break.!!For!more!about!the!attendance!policy,!please!refer!to!the!marching!band!contract.!!! Before!you!come!to!the!audition,!please!fill!out!the!forms!and!bring!them!with!you!to!the!audition!along!with!the!packet.!!! I!look!forward!to!having!a!fun!and!exciting!season.!!Now,!time!to!dust!off!that!metronome!and!get!practicing!!!

Drum!Line!Agreement!!! !! Each!member!of!the!drum!line!will!be!required!to!buy!their!own!sticks!or!mallets.!!I!recommend!buying!three!pairs.!!One!for!practice,!one!for!performance,!and!one!spare.!You!are!also!required!to!come!prepared!to!every!rehearsal!with!your!music!in!a!three!ring!binder!with!plastic!sleeves.!!Last,!you!will!be!required!to!come!to!practice!with!the!music!memorized!as!instructed.!!Practice!time!is!limited!and!it!is!important!that!each!member!comes!prepared.!!There!will!be!sectionals!throughout!the!season!and!will!be!scheduled!as!needed.!!!
