Don’t let technology difficulties impact your success! NC State’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is here to help ensure a smooth technology transition.
The mission of OIT is to support students, faculty and staff in achieving their goals. While here at NC State, you will come into contact with new, innovative and exciting uses of technology in learning and social situations, some of which may be stressful. I want you to know that the university IT team is here to provide you with a variety of resources - the Help Desk, wireless networking, computer labs, Google Apps, mobile and more. Our Help Desk is as close as your mobile when you dial (919) 515 HELP (5-4357) or email [email protected]. The Walk-in Center, centrally located in the West Dunn Building, provides support for computers and technology needs.
I expect your Google calendar will be full in no time (with hints from this version) with interesting events, club meetings, sports and even a few parties. This paper calendar is a symbol of the efforts and time management skills that you will need for success. Jump in and get involved.
As NC State’s CIO, I want to share some critical rules to protect your IT security and privacy! Here are my four golden rules for protecting yourself:
1. Never give your password to ANYONE! Not help desk staff, not friends, not parents, not anyone!2. Use Google 2-Step Verification for your email account and Duo for MyPack Portal and Wolfware.
Both are added layers of security that deter hackers from gaining access to your accounts. More information is available at go.ncsu.edu/2FA.
3. Never put in an email or text message or on Facebook, Instagram, Snap or Twitter something that you would not want to go viral.
4. NEVER share or download copyrighted material that you did not pay for or have permission from the copyright holder to use.
Remember that IT security and IT privacy are under your control, so don’t be a victim. Let OIT help you be successful at NC State.
Throughout this calendar, you’ll find hints, information and important IT topics that will help you be successful in your University career. Be sure to take advantage of the many support services on campus.
Have a great and successful experience and… Go Wolfpack!

ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT i The student’s WolfTV or telephone service will be connected only after the OIT application form (from the OIT or Housing websites) has been completed by the applicant and received by OIT. The student’s electronic signature via the Web binds the student to these terms and conditions and signifies that the student has received, read and agreed to abide by all conditions, terms and policies contained within the agreement. In addition, it authorizes OIT to charge the customer’s student account for requested services.
WOLFTV & TELEPHONE SERVICE i The WolfTV contract is in effect for cable services and features from the date the subscriber signs it, either electronically or physically, and remains in effect through the current academic year as long as a valid Residence Hall Agreement or Greek Village housing commitment is in effect or until the subscriber submits a Request for Change form, either via paper form or through the WolfTV website (go.ncsu.edu/wolftv) canceling service. Subscribers are responsible for notifying OIT of a change of service via the WolfTV website. Failure to notify OIT may result in continued charges for service.
EQUIPMENT i It is the student’s responsibility to provide his or her own telephone, television capable of receiving Clear QAM signals and associated cords and cables to connect to the NC State infrastructure.
FEES & CHARGES i Charges for repair visits as a result of equipment failure in subscriber-provided equipment will be billed to the subscriber at $50 per hour.
PAYMENT OF BILL AND COST OF SERVICE i WolfTV: $192.50 per room per semester. Charges are placed on the account of the first roommate that signs up for the service. Students may sign up for or cancel service throughout the semester; however, a minimum charge of 30 days’ worth of service will be billed to the student’s account for each sign up. The charge is prorated from the service sign-up date.
i Local telephone: $67 per line per semester. This charge is non-refundable unless the student cancels service prior to the beginning of the semester or moves out of university housing.
i Service selections for WolfTV and phone carry over from fall to spring. Each semester is billed separately.
TERMS & CONDITIONSINQUIRIES & COMPLAINTS
i Inquires or complaints regarding any aspect of the service may be addressed to: BJ Attarian, Media and Student Services, Box 7217, Raleigh NC 27695, or made to (919) 515-7099, option 1 (5-7099 on campus). Unresolved complaints may be directed to the Utilities Commission, Consumer Services Division, 4326 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699, (919) 733-9277.
RESNET i By living in University Housing or Greek Village, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set for this service.
