Chester County Intermediate Unit The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is one of 29 regionaleducational service agencies established by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education in 1970. The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to the 12 Chester County public school districts and also to over 50 private and parochial schools in the county.

The CCIU is governed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of one school board director from each of the 12 Chester County public school districts.

The Chester County Intermediate Unit oversees over 80 programs thatdirectlyandindirectlybenefitover86,000publicandnon-publicschool students. These programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular, occupational and special education staff and students. Other IU services support school district leaders. The diversity of CCIU programs enable its staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Chester County.
