Chappy’s Chat Hi All The end of the year is upon us and the Christmas holidays are coming up very quickly. A big ‘Congratulations’ to the Year 10 and Year 6 students on their graduation. We will miss the year 10s at school, but we are excited for you with your next step in life’s adventure. We wish you all the very best for your future. The last days of school will go so quickly, so I have included my fun holiday ideas in the newsletter for some inexpensive ways to help everyone get over the ‘I’m bored!’ times. Good fun doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! Try it and see! I want to wish you all a very safe and blessed Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Season’s Greetings, Chappy Janelle Make Christmas decorations:

• You can find old magazines at Op shops, library books or craft sites on the internet, to give you instructions for making your own Christmas decorations. What better way to build up the excitement for Christmas. www.pinterest.com.au for great Christmas decoration ideas.

Plan a picnic: • Get the kids to help make little treats for the picnic eg, put a colourful icing on a plain biscuit and use pieces of lollies to decorate or make faces. Make mini quiches, meat balls or a dip, together and store them in the fridge till the picnic day. Make a cheese ball with Phili cheese and grated Tasty cheese and herbs. Vegie sticks with the dip. • Let them plan the games to play at the picnic eg, frisbee, cricket, blowing bubbles, fly a kite.

Plan an art day: • Have big sheets of paper, crayons and paint spread out on the lawn for them to have fun with. Or use jumbo chalk on the concrete. It will save the house getting messed up. Use a straw to blow bubbles in soapy water with food colouring, place paper on top and remove for a special effect. Make their art into Christmas cards or presents. www.pinterest.com.au has some great craft ideas

Have a wet n wild day in your back yard: • Gather any squeezy bottles eg, plastic tomato sauce bottles, water pistols, buckets of water with soft sponges for throwing, water balloons, a small toddlers pool to splash in. Put your togs on and join in the fun!

Have a Bake Off, baking competition:

• See who can bake the most impressive cake or the best decorated biscuits. You can use bought biscuits if your children are not old enough to use the oven. They will have loads of fun decorating with coloured icing and lollies. Take a look at www.taste.com.au it is one of my favourite recipe sites.

Imagination is your only limit for fun on the holidays with your kids. Be on the lookout for kids clubs or holiday fun activities. Let them make a poster, listing ideas to do through the holidays. It will amaze you what great ideas they will come up with! See you in 2018. Chappy Janelle

Prep News I cannot believe this year is coming to end. I feel blessed to have seen this class of 2017 grow and start their journeys as lifelong learners. Each and every one of them have learned so much this year and I wish them all the success as they go on their next adventure of becoming year one students. Thank you to the parents that came to our play and I hope you all have a restful holiday. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all families of the prep class. Yours in Education Mrs Sue Jones

3/4 and 5/6 News It has been a very busy time in the 3/4 and 5/6 classess with everyone finishing off assessment, tying up all the loose ends, cleaning and moving classrooms and saying goodbye to friends who are leaving at the end of the year. I have been impressed with the students' stamina, and it was lovely to celebrate our year together and our hard work at our class party picnic. All the students harvested and cooked food from the kitchen garden, and picked a lovely shady spot to sit and share the food everyone helped to cook. A highlight was finding a giant zucchini in the garden, which has enjoyed all this fabulous rain we have had. I hope everyone has a great holiday break and I look forward to seeing all the fresh faces in the New Year. Miss Linton.

Year 5/6 I want to thank all the Year 5/6 students for a great year. Good luck to those students who are going elsewhere next year and to the Year 6s going into the secondary department. Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone. Mrs Love
