Rules of Play RCGA Rules govern all play. White lines define ground under repair. Rainouts: Holes
played will be used if deemed possible by the Committee. The Committee will make
a determination as to how the tournament will be concluded if it is shortened by
rain. Scorecards will contain additional local rules. Handicapping and other
important rules are posted for your inspection.
Program Changes
The Acorn Challenge Committee, in cooperation with the Clubhouse
Manager and Head Golf Professional of The Oaks Country Club, reserve the
right to make program changes as may be required for the benefit of the
successful execution of the Acorn Challenge.
Scoring Contestants are divided into ten (10) flights of six (6) teams each. Handicaps for the
event will be based on a player’s CPGA index, adjusted for a nine-hole match,
depending on which nine-hole course is played. When playing a match, each
player will play off the low ball of the match. In other words, the lowest
handicapped players will adjust to zero and the other players will adjust accordingly.
Your handicap index will be marked on your bag tag that you receive at the same
time. If there is any discrepancy with that please talk to one of the Acorn Challenge
Committee members prior to the commencement of play.

Format There are ten (10) flights with six (6) teams in each flight. Each team plays five (5)
nine-hole matches within their flight worth twenty (20) points. Two (2) points are
awarded for each holes won and two (2) points for the most points won in the nine-
hole match. The five (5) round totals are 100 points (maximum) if a team won all of
the holes played. Points are won based on one net best ball per team beating the
opponent’s one net best ball. Winning a hole results in two (2) points, tying a hole
results in one (1) point, losing a hole results in zero points.
Rules The teams scoring the highest points in their flight will advance to a four (4) team semi-final playoff consisting of three (3) holes. If two (2) teams are tied after regular play, five (5) matches, the winner will be determined according to head to head play. The winner of the match of the two (2) tied teams will move forward to the semi-finals. If that head to head match was tied, a maximum of three (3) sudden death playoff holes using the three (3) hole playoff format will determine the winner. If after three (3) holes the teams are still tied, a chip-off, not to exceed ten (10) yards off the green will commence on the last green played. If there are more than two (2) teams tied the winner of the flight will be determined by a maximum of three (3) sudden death playoff holes using the three (3) hole playoff format. If teams are still tied after three (3) holes of sudden death then a “chip-off” not to exceed ten (10) yards off the green will be used to determine the flight winner. Each player from all the ‘tied’ teams will take one (1) chip. The player closest to the pin will have his team advance to the semi-finals.
NOTE: If any team is not able to complete all rounds their matches will be removed
from the competition and that division will play best of four (4) instead of best of five (5) “the dental paradigm”.
SemiFinals and Finals Format The ten (10) Flight Winners plus the Lucky Squirrel plus a mystery team will
advance to a (3) three-hole Semi-Final Match play-off at 3:00 pm.
These (3) three-hole Semi Final Match Play-off groups, will be seeded based
upon divisions as already set out.

Playoff Format
The format this year will again be ALTERNATE SHOT. The 3-hole playoff structure
of points based on net aggregate score will remain as in previous years. Holes
1, 2 & 4 will be used for the playoffs.
Each team of two players must decide on the FIRST hole of the playoff which
player will tee off on the first hole, each additional shot from there will be
played alternately until holed out.
The second playoff hole, must be started by the player who did not tee off in
the first playoff hole and the shots alternated until holed out
The third hole must be started by the player that teed off the first playoff hole,
and the player shots will alternate until holed out again.
All strokes will be awarded where they fall on The Oaks scorecard.
Here is an example: Team 1 must choose between Player A or B to start the
three hole playoff. If they choose Player A to hit first on the first playoff hole,
the hole is then played out with alternate shots. Player B must hit the tee shot
on the 2nd hole and again players play alternately until holed out. Player A
must then hit the tee shot on the third playoff hole, and shots are played
alternately until holed out.
It does not matter who holed out on the previous hole. Only the player
scheduled to tee off on the next hole as decided, and declared, before the
playoff started, can tee off the next hole. The playoff will be decided by the total points accumulated based on
aggregate net totals of the three holes with the highest point total advancing.
All decisions by the committee are final, so…please don’t be a whiney pain in the ass.
The “Drink & Cart Rally” will begin at 3:00 P.M. All members and guests are
invited and encouraged to attend the Three-Hole Championship.
Each hole is worth 12 points, with 6 points per hole for the team with the lowest
net best ball, 4 points for the second, 2 points for the third and 0 points for
fourth. Position ties split points evenly.
Semi-Final Playoffs 1st = 6 points, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th = 2 points each. (3-way tie) 1st & 2nd = 5 points each, 3rd & 4th = 1 point each. (2-way ties) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd = 4 points each, 4th = 0 points. (3-way tie) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th = 3 points each. (4-way tie)
In each “mini-match”, the team with the most points after three holes wins;
second most points is second, third most points is third and fourth most points is
fourth. The three winners from the Semi-Final matches will advance to the
Finals. Any position ties at the conclusion of the “Mini-matches” will be
determined by a chip-off not to exceed 10 yards. Order of play, blue tees, for the 1st hole will be by team points from the 5
matches. Remaining holes will be by points earned on the previous hole
played.
Final Championship Shoot-out
Saturday’s Championship Shoot-Out will have three (3) teams playing off for
the Acorn Championship. The teams placing first overall in the three (3)
semifinal playoffs will participate in the Championship Shoot-Out to determine
the Champion.
Again, holes # 1, 2 & 4 will determine our champion at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday
afternoon.
Each team will play for first (5 points), second (3 points), third (1 point) on each
of the three Championship Round holes.
Net best ball ties will result in splitting place points.
1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points & 3rd = 1 point. 1st = 5 points, 2nd& 3rd = 2 points each. 1st & 2nd = 4 points each & 3rd = 1 point each.
The team scoring the most points at the conclusion of the three holes will be
the Acorn Champions, with the second highest point total team finishing
second, and the third highest point total finishing third.
All tied teams after the three-hole finals will play sudden death again at 1, 2, 4
and again if necessary until we have a winner. In the event of a tie during the
playoffs teams WILL be allowed to reset their alternate shot order of play.

Putting Challenge
Format & Rules This year we are again challenging you and your guest
to see who can make the BIG PUTT for all the CASH!!!!
$500.00 guaranteed!!
The contest runs from Friday until Saturday at Lunch.
Practice all you want but do you have what it takes to make the BIG PUTT
when the CASH is on the line!
ENTER AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE!
Here is how it works: $10 /person for 10 golf balls. All funds go toward the BIG PUTT Final.
Players can enter as many times as they like. However, you may not take more
than 10 golf balls into the contest at one time. Example.....a player pays $20
for 20 balls. He must putt 10 golf balls then start over with the next 10 balls.
Station 1 You putt all 10 balls from a line 8 feet from the cup. For each one you make -
you take to the next station. For example if you make 6 of 10 from 8 feet out
you bring 6 balls to the next station.
Station 2 The next station is a line 16 feet from the cup and each ball made from the
Station 1 is putted and the total you make - you take to the BIG PUTT. For
example you have made 2 of the 6 balls you have started with at Station 2.
You now have two shots at the BIG PUTT.
Big PuttYou now have the total of balls made from Station 2 and putt them to the BIG
PUTT (enlarged hole). The BIG PUTT station will have a designated line from the
bottom of the putting green to the top. For each putt made on the BIG PUTT
hole you will be awarded a ball in the final. The more you hole, the more
chances you have at the cash!
The Final The final will be held after the Acorn Challenge playoffs. All contestants
qualified for the final will have their designated number of balls and have
chance to make the BIG PUTT for the all the cash!
THE FINAL will be held over lunch on Saturday and everyone is encouraged to
see who will win the BIG PUTT cash total!
In the event of a tie with multiple contestants making the putt a shootout will
start immediately. If no contestant makes the BIG PUTT the closest to the BIG
PUTT hole will be declared the winner and take the CASH!
Any disputes, will be settled by the committee, and all decisions are FINAL! Please keep in mind… if you have a dispute, you’re likely a crybaby and should slap yourself in the face before we have to do it for you.
