2017 Year in Review
Including those with special needs.
WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CAT MATTERS
Our Philosophy
At Purrfect Pals, our highest priority istaking in the cats and kittens who needus most… those who other sheltersand rescue groups might not have theresources to help. This includes oldercats, cats with major medical needs, cats with chronic illnesses (including FIVand Feline Leukemia) and those withbehavioral challenges.
Our Placement Programs
Our cat adoption andrehabilitation programs help usplace homeless cats, includingthose with special needs, inloving homes. We believe thatevery cat is adoptable; some justneed more time than others tofind the right match. Ourultimate goal is to place them, but these cats have a lovinghome in our Arlington sanctuaryfor as long as they need us. Thesanctuary is currently home tocats positive for FIV and FelineLeukemia, feral cats, senior(though we prefer to call them“vintage”) cats and cats withchronic illnesses.
Our Prevention ProgramsIn addition to finding homesfor homeless cats andkittens, we help prevent cathomelessness by providingfree spay and neutervouchers and a pet foodbank for low-income catowners in our community.
Our goal is to provide thesupport they need so theywon't be forced to give uptheir beloved pets becauseof temporary financialhardship.
We also provide resourcesfor cat owners who arestruggling with behavioralchallenges.

Our Community's Needs are Changing.Free and low-cost spay and neuterefforts have dramatically reduced thenumber of healthy, adoptable cats inWashington State shelters.
Cats and kittens with special medicaland behavioral needs are still at risk, however, and they remain ourhighest priority at Purrfect Pals.
In 2016 and 2017, we temporarilyreduced the number of cats we tookin so we could redesign and expandour shelter and sanctuary to betteraccommodate the cats who need usmost.
In June 2017, we completed our $1.4M shelter expansion construction project which will significantly increase the
number of cats with special needs we can save each year.
Our brand new 4,000 squarefoot building houses severalnew cat rooms (most withcatios), a reception area, adoption center, caretaker'sstudio and office space.
This new cage-free space wasdesigned with special needs catsin mind and makes enrichment apriority. It will allow us to carefor up to 100 more cats andkittens at a time and keep themeven healthier and happier.
