Welcome back as we begin a new year. I trust you had a pleasant, relaxing summer and are ready to make our year a profitable one as we endeavor to better our com- munity through the giving of gen- erous donations. Our first fundraiser is the annual plant sale at the pier on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10. Please bring your plants to the pier by 7 am. If you are working, use your City Guest Parking Pass or we will provide a pass which you will return at the end of your shift. Our first general meeting is on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 10:15 am. Again, use your Guest Parking Pass or a pass will be provided which will be good for the whole year. Our program will be “Musical Serenade”. It is also our 94th birthday. We are the oldest non-profit “organization” in Seal Beach. See you there. Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?

Please arrive at 11:45 a.m. on the first Wednesday. Library Senior Center. Game begins promptly at 12:15 p.m. Bring your lunch, if you wish and $3 for Bunco. Coffee, tea and a snack will be provided. Regrets only: Rosario Mauritz 431-4437 Betty Brand 598-5028

STRING SERENADE

Keith McClellan has been in a band for nine years, playing acoustic guitar at country clubs/private par-ties and charitable events. Maryanne has been playing the mandolin since she was eight years old and plays multiple instruments. She belongs to several different

groups and plays professionally. We are delighted to have this duo performing for us on Sep-tember 20th at our first general meeting of the Woman’s Club of Seal Beach.

Bring items to the WC Meeting—Bar Soap, Body Wash, Deodor-ant, Tooth Brushes, Laundry Detergent, Shampoo, Body Lotion, Pet Food etc.

We Care

The ‘Doc’ in Doc’s Pie Shop is James Blake. Happily and humbly serving the dental needs of the local community for over 23 years, the conclusion of his dental career marked the beginning of Doc’s Pie Shop. While Dr. Blake had a passion for dentistry, he had a passion for All Things Pie as well. Blessed by an awesome staff in the dental world, Dr. Blake built his “Dream Team” in the pastry and specialty coffee world. Thus, Doc’s Pie Shop was born.

For our Pie Shop adventure, first meet at Finbars for lunch at 12:00 p.m. (In Pavilions Center). After lunch we will walk to Doc’s Pie Shop on Main Street for a kitchen tour with Dr. Blake. Feel free to stay for a piece of pie. YUM!
