OpenEdge 11.7 Upgrade• The OpenEdge 10.2B updated was in 2012.
• The OpenEdge 11.7 upgrade will generally be available
Feb 2018.
• Districts will have one year to have upgrade performed.
• Skyward will maintain two versions of SMS 2.0 during these
12-months.
• There will be installers written to perform the OpenEdge
11.7 upgrade.
• Districts can perform the upgrade themselves or request
the billable 11.7 Upgrade Service; cost based on number of
server and databases.
• ISCorp will perform the 11.7 Upgrade during the summer of
2018.

Course Learning CenterThe Course Learning Center (CLC) is a student module. It bridges the digital
connection between staff and students that helps your district improve
initiatives such as 1:1, BYOD, flipped classroom, and blended learning. Our
CLC provides content sharing, digital lockers, and a discussion board that also
integrates with our Gradebook and Lesson Plan modules. Parents will also
have access to the CLC so they can monitor the work their children are doing.
• Share any type of electronic media between teachers and students
• Students view, complete and submit their work online
• Parents are kept informed in the whole process

• The report queue will process in batches of 100.
• And someone becomes the president of the clickers club
requesting more than one of the same report card; the
system will only produce one per entity.
• Verify that .NET 4.5 or higher is installed on report server as
form-based reports will process more efficiently.

Disable popup with logon
• To disable the popup on login you can add “?nopopup=true” to the end of
the Skyward URL
• Example:

• The URL can be modified on Website Links and bookmarks but should not be
included in any URL fields in the Skyward software.
• This however does not prevent other areas of the software from opening new
popup windows.
Mobile Push Notifications
Learning Management System API
• There is a web-based (https) LMS API that integrates with the Learning
Management Systems.
• The LMS API resolves the teacher having to dual enter information in
Skyward and an LMS if the LMS license is purchased..
• The API will initially allow for read / read only / insert / modify of student
management objects using a web-based REST SSL so the network traffic is
encrypted.
• Read Only connectivity can be configured without having to purchase the
LMS API license.
SKYRAS API Update
OE10.2B SP8 Update• In 2012, Skyward self-hosted customers upgraded to Progress OpenEdge 10.2B
Service Pack 5. Since that time, Progress has made many improvements to the
OpenEdge products that were/are included in Service Pack 7/8. Skyward is
recommending that all self-hosted customers upgrade to Progress OpenEdge 10.2B
Service Pack 8 at their earliest convenience.
• Progress OpenEdge Service Pack 8 improvements include:• Improved memory management for all Server Operating Systems
• Support for Windows Server 2012 / 2012R2 / 2016
• ODBC/JDBC Advanced Query fixes
• A multitude of general bug fixes and stability improvements.
• Skyward has created an Installer which makes the update process very simple.
• The service pack update does require the server to be down for about 15 minutes.

• Create a robocopy log file
• Email the robocopy log file to same person(s) that get the
backup log.

Single Sign On option
SkySTS for SMS 2.0
• SkySTS is available for SMS 2.0 for the purposes of Skyward acting
as an Identity Provider (IdP) for other systems. The STS replaces
using SkyAuth for Single Sign On (SSO. SkyAuth will continue to
work but it should not be used for any new SS) setups.
• SkySTS for SMS 2.0 is available to all customers at no cost (no
license fees). IT Services will charge on premises customers 2
hours for the STS setup.
