INFORMATION RELEASE August 9, 2017
Parks & Rec offers First Aid/CPR/AED training
Anyone interested in learning American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and how to use an AED can now become certified through the City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation. The Aquatics Division is offering the course to the public once a month at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. The next class is on August 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Historically, the Aquatics Division coordinated this kind of training for Parks & Rec staff members who were required to be First Aid/CPR/AED certified, but we’ve received feedback from community members asking for the training. In response to this growing demand, we’ve scheduled the monthly Saturday courses,” Aquatics Manager Julie Jackson said. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an American Red Cross certification that’s valid for 2 years. The course costs $150 and materials, which are optional, cost $25.
After August 19, the next First Air/CPR/AED class is Saturday, September 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Once-a-month certification courses will continue into the fall and winter. With advanced notice, the Aquatics Division can accommodate a class for groups or organizations who have at least five people to participate on a date outside of the regularly scheduled times. To arrange this, call Brianna Rusanowski and Noelani Kamahele at 586-2782 or email [email protected]. To register for a Saturday class or for more course information, click here.
