• Car riders are dropped off at Wetumpka Street or NorthingtonStreet depending on the location of their classroom.
• School doors are opened at 7:15 for car riders. Students may not be dropped off prior to that time.
• The tardy bell rings at 8:00. Any student that arrives after that time must be signed in the office by a parent/guardian. School dismisses at 3:00.
• If transportation changes for your child, please send in a written note.• Every day of first grade is extremely important. Please encourage
your child to be present and on time unless he or she is ill. Please send a written excuse within three days of your child’s absence.

• Students should bring their belongings to school in a canvas tote bag (over the shoulder.) No book bags are allowed.
• Tote bags with our school logo will be sold in August at orientation. Students may purchase other tote bags elsewhere.
• All money should come to school in an labeled envelope or Ziploc bag.
• Students will have a binder/folder to use as a communication tool. Teachers will send home notes, newsletters, field trip forms, behavior logs, etc. Parents may also send parent notes, money, etc in the binder.

• Students should know letters and sounds, Kindergarten readiness words, color and number words.
• Read nightly with your child. Students will be allowed to bring home Accelerated Reader books on their reading level.
• Language Arts includes spelling and grammar. Students will be given weekly spelling tests.
• Students will be given weekly tests in Reading assessing high frequency words, phonics skills and comprehension.
• Students will use Lexia Core 5 to work independently on Reading skills.
• Students will use lined handwriting paper to practice correct formation of letters. The specific paper will be sold for $8 at orientation in August.

• Students should be able to write and identify numbers to 30, basic facts and complete a pattern unit.
• Majority of the year is spent on learning addition and subtraction facts. We will also learn number patterns to 100, shapes, time, and fractions
• Students will use Reflex Math and Rocket Math to help build fluency.
